NC as have posted a lot about MH issues and want no connection at all even if zilch chance...

Looking for tips from you lovely lot on:

  1. weight loss. Not looking to have miracles but assuming a month I can start to notice something/ feel better on myself. I would say have 4/5 stone to lose

  2. general grooming tips to look professional

  3. confidence tips for speaking to a larger audience, no public speaking but presentations etc

  4. general confident tips as have been through the mill at current employer

Am excited as feel have a new chance but feel nervous, sluggish and fat and old (am 40).

Buy new clothes that fit you now and don't worry about the weight loss.

Start a daily walk or yoga regime that will fit with your new job...will improve skin, picture, confidence and mood. Seven days a week.

Practice watching your breath. If you get stressed in the new hob re presenting you can use this breath awareness to centre you.

Hair back. Nice earrings. Then you only need to worry about your fringe looking tidy.

Flat shoes. But not sandals.

Smart handbag.

Make up...foundation, mascara, bright lippy. Anything more can look tired, aging and fussy. Bright lippy does wonders.

Good luck!

Posture, not picture!

Walking! Aim for 10,000 steps a day, it works wonders! Cut down on crap, eat breakfast, drink lots of water, change any sugar in drinks to sweetener.

A good hair cut/colour, nails done, nice subtle makeup.

Regarding confidence, practise speaking out loud at home, sounds silly but get a mock up presentation, talk through it.
I find confidence a hard one, I've only gained it the past couple of years and not sure how it's just come to me. I think when your happy and settled in a job you enjoy your confidence grows.

Congrats on new job and good luck!

Absolutely feeling you OP! Starting a new role in two weeks after 18 months at home in gym leggings. Feel like I need to unearth that professional polished person somehow

Hi OP, firstly, congratulations on your new job!

I don't have much to add really, but just a tip that someone gave me years ago when I had to do public speaking for the first time - if your mouth goes dry, bite the side of your tongue and your mouth will water. Sounds drastic, but it works!

Secondly, please remember that your new employer chose you because they believe in you, so please believe in yourself.

Good luck! Flowers

Just remember it’s a clean slate. Do your best and be prepared for it to be a bit bumpy the first couple of months and just pick yourself up, and think how you can improve next time. I always find a new role takes a while to get the swing of and confidence comes in time - expecting yourself to be a superstar straight off the bat leads to less self confidence but accepting you will be there in a bit of time helps
