Period leak

Birdkin · 18/07/2021 15:52

Just got home and realised I had a massive period stain on the back of my nice sundress

No idea how long I’d been walking around with it for BlushSad. I’ve been in shops, on the bus… Nightmare!

Please reassure me I’m not the only one this is happened to outside of the teen years!

No. Not the only one. It’s happened to me (at work) plus I have seen it on others.
People don’t think anything of it.

Its happened to us all, if I saw it happen to someone else I wouldn't feel anything but empathy.

I've recently discovered period pants and wear them on my heavy days, just in case. Game changer!

I really need to get some of those! Is there a brand you recommend?

I noticed Primark selling them today. £13 for a pack of three. I’ve got some off Amazon before as well.

Cazzovuoi · 18/07/2021 16:25

It happens to me in work. Luckily I was wearing black trousers and my chair was black. I cried in the loo.

I second and third period pants. I use a pad with with mine or my menstrual cup when I can be arsed.

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 18/07/2021 16:29

I like cheeky wipe period pants as does DD absolute game changer for teenagers (and when you stay in hotels). Cheeky wipes are a UK brand, they don't come in as many colours as the US brands like modibody but they are cheaper

longtompot · 18/07/2021 16:32

Nope not the only one. I was in a pub garden years ago, but in my 30s, and then realised I'd leaked on the back of my skirt. I was mortified, but just turned my skirt around a bit and tied a jacket or cardi around my waist. I've also leaked really badly on a dog walk which I had to cut short. My jeans were soaked through. Luckily had a jacket tied around the waist and my jeans were darker blue, but still, awful.
I do have reasons mine are so heavy, so if being heavy to leaking is a regular thing, I'd see your gp about it. Usually it is something that can be easily treated.

tgt123 · 18/07/2021 16:37

My sympathies. I have a constant fear of this (makes me far too nervous to wear white jeans at any time of the month). I tend to tie something around my waist when it's my heavy days as it makes me feel less self conscious.

TorchesTorches · 18/07/2021 16:44

I leaked on a transatlantic flight. Cream trousers. Total nightmare. I had to tie a cardigan around my waist and got a taxi home on arrival rather than the usual public transport, which cost loads. Still annoyed about it 20 years later!

StepladderToHeaven · 18/07/2021 16:46

It's happened to me at work - I was wearing a beige skirt. Nightmare! I wear period pants too now.

BikeRunSki · 18/07/2021 16:56

It’s happened to me. I was wearing pale grey trousers, and a lady in Aldi told me. Even though it was freezing, I walked back to work with my jumper tied round my waist.

Topseyt · 18/07/2021 16:57

You're not alone. This has happened to me more times than I care to count.

I suffered very heavy flooding periods for years. I'm almost 55 now and on Zoladex injections prescribed by my gynaecologist in the hope that it finally shuts down my rather stubborn ovaries and tips me into menopause.

There can be various causes of heavy bleeding. You may need to discuss it with your GP.

Bargebill19 · 18/07/2021 17:01

You aren’t alone. If it helps you to smile - I firmly believe that’s why the tying of jumper around waist only starts at puberty. Little kids throw the jumper on the ground.
Seriously no one will judge, we’ve all been there.

billycorn · 18/07/2021 17:06

This happened to me once when I worked in a cafe. I had my back to a customer and he said I'd got ketchup on my bum, obviously it wasn't but just went a long with it! Thank god I worked in a cafe and not an office because at lease he/I could blame it on ketchup!

Cheeeeislifenow · 18/07/2021 17:08

Inwaa in Spain...a nice Spanish lady couldn't speak English and whispered on ky ear "blood". I thought it was sinister until I realised 😂😂😂😂
My friend helped me wayah it out of my nice sun dress with cold.water (should always use cold with blood). What a good friend!!

APurpleSquirrel · 18/07/2021 17:18

Yep has happened to me a couple of times - worst was at PIL one Christmas - whole family there & I was wearing a white & blue stripped dress - spent some time in the loo trying to rinse it out.
Agree period pants are the way forward - I wear a pad too on my heavy days. Recommend both Modibodi & Luna by Sainsbury's.

SweetPetrichor · 18/07/2021 17:22

Been there, only it was at work and thankfully my clothes and seat where dark!

Jent13c · 18/07/2021 18:49

Happens most months, cup and heavy duty pad. I tend to flood rather than leak.

Had a lovely night shift at around 10pm where I tipped an overflowing (30ml) menstrual cup all down my thankfully navy trousers then had to work for the full shift feeling utterly disgusting.

ivykaty44 · 18/07/2021 18:51

It happened to me many years ago while I was travelling near Darwin. A lady came and told me and I was able to get a change of sun dress and wash the other later.

You can now get period pants, not sure if you know and this helps prevent this type of situation or worry
