BUPA health insurance

I have been contemplating getting private health insurance for a while and have decided to start researching it properly. I wanted to ask about BUPA-if you have health insurance with them, are you happy with the service you receive? Are there any negatives?

Or, if you have health insurance with another provider can you let me know who with and if you rate them highly?

@Roselilly36

Could I suggest Benenden Healthcare, Bupa are their partner, much cheaper, for a good level of cover. My family have been members for 25+ years, they are excellent IMHO.
Thanks for the tip-I'll ask them for a quote as well.

It’s the same price for every member for BH.

Not had a problem with BUPA and we’ve used it a fair bit

Babylon is awesome though, I don’t know if it comes with all the policies

@Roselilly36 that's interesting. My biggest concern is having to wait ages for any diagnostics on NHS waiting lists-would you say that Benenden are good when it comes to referrals and tests?

Basically it all comes down to the level of cover. Ours is non underwritten (us company I assume they're used to paying way more for health insurance) and we've never had a problem getting bupa to cover acute conditions. None of them cover chronic conditions but they all cover "an acute flare up" etc. When you get it through work there can be a different company every year as they school around at renewal. Axa were a little easier to get through to and have more consultants on their standard scale unlike bupa.

If there is a delay on the NHS, Benenden can help. They have helped my family many times over the years, so diagnosis and operations. They have there own hospital in Kent, and use many private ones via Bupa. Also access to GP, physio, MH support etc. You do have to be a member for 6mths before funding a diagnosis though.
