Anyone else lost their smell and taste with covid?

Just that really. Currently on day 5 with absolutely zero sense of smell or taste and its really starting to get me down. I didn't realise how many of life's small pleasures come from smelling clean laundry, or my DS 7mnths head, or fresh coffee in the morning.
When did everyone else's come back? I've thoroughly freaked myself out reading about long covid, and how a year on some people's sense of smell and taste haven't returned yet Shock

Had it in November, smell and taste totally went for about a week. They're back but different, certain things smell and taste different. It's frustrating sometimes

@ThelmaDinkley

Scotabroad I’ve been using loads of olbas oil but nothing is coming back Sad. Other symptoms are headaches, tiredness and awful lower backache and pains in legs. It’s not pleasant at all. I am double jabbed pfeizer. I do feel vaccination helped stop it going onto my chest. Hope you feel better soon.

Sounds like me, my back seems to ache constantly. My first vaccination was supposed to be this week (we aren't in UK and it's much slower here) so its such bad timing. It has gone to my chest, feel like someone is standing on it all the time. Hope you start to feel better soon

@MiloAndEddie

I lost mine, it’s really disconcerting and rubbish!

I had COVID in Oct and strangely it came back about 2 weeks later, no problem. Then around Christmas it went weird again, things I’d previously eaten ok tasted rank. It’s still not 100% back to normal.

This happened to me too! Lost it, and it came back. Then about 2 months later, things started to smell and taste funny too (didn't lose it this time, just gone weird). Only with certain things. Smells like rotting waste! Nice.

Lost sense of smell and taste, for a different reason, several years ago and it came back eventually after three years. I just wanted to empathise. People thought I was upset over nothing big but it really is like the joy in life is dimmed.

Like a pp said I can differentiate between really sweet or really salty but that's it.
I'm so paranoid as I'm scared I smell and can't tell etc, I can't smell perfume or anything at all.
Same with my house, paranoid that I can't smell bad smells lurking.
It's getting me down now and been a couple of weeks.

I had Covid in May 2020 taste and smell was gone nearly a year, smell came and went for a while and taste and smell both back now. Weirdly there are many things that smell and taste differently to how they used to smell. So foods I loved I no longer like and vis versa.
I can smell the laundry detergent isle at the shop though and love it just as much.
