Ways to get some money

I'm looking for ways to make a bit of money. Not huge, just so I can get something regular coming in. I've seen surveys around, are there any that aren't scams? Is there anything else I can do? Thanks in advance

My cousin buys and sells on eBay.

Making and selling cakes is big at the moment
Gardening
Pet sitting
Child minding

There are regular earning £10 a day threads on Mumsnet - lots of good ideas in those

Follow Moneysaving Expert for tips, get the weekly email and also review your budget for signposting for cutting costs on things like utilities, which has a similar affect as getting extra money - if you knock £10 a month off your utility bill, that's an extra £10 you have to spend/save as you wish, likewise for broadband and TV costs.

You can also do things like switch your bank account for £100 or so in cashback.

Coming up to the school holidays, is there anyone you know who would be looking for informal childcare? Maybe younger secondary school age who don't need proper childcare, but are a bit young to be left alone all day while their parents work. You could spend a couple of hours with them in the middle of the day, give them lunch, or be there in the early evening after holiday clubs but before their parents get home from work, that sort of thing.

Surveys wasn't too bad a few years ago, could get about £25 a month but you ended up wasting so much time it wasn't worth it. Getting free products to review was also a good little earner, but nowadays they don't bother - they've enough people doing it on Insta.

Part-time job would be the most sensible way.

Don't glue letters and googly eyes on to empty jars and ask for £10 each for them, it makes people uncomfortable.

Don't get sucked into an MLM cult with people who will demand you pay £1000 to tell others about mascara. People LOSE a lot of money on these.

I trade antiques on the side, but this is only profitable if you put the work in.

Yes, getting a paid job would probably be the best way to a reliable income, or self employed work like cleaning, gardening etc.

Is there a reason why this isn't an option? Lots of reports about there being a shortage of workers at the moment, despite a lot of Mumsnet claiming that it's impossible to find work.

I live in a very rural area, with no transport, I have almost no actual work experience, am 43, so I think someone my age who's not done much wouldn't be top of anyone's list to employ. I've also had an awful few years health wise, and am only starting to feel better now

Paying for a gardener is all the thing round here just now. A normal middle class small town - not landed gentry or anything

"Take part in research" have some well paid ones, but you can apply for loads and not get anything. I recently got over £200 for testing wine 😂

Every pub near us is looking for staff, and it can be fun, a few lunchtimes a week. Nice to have some company if you've been in lockdown for a while.
