My god Carrie is an arsehole, I’m at the episode where she’s berating Charlotte for not giving her $40000. Irresponsible and feckless

SJP was on the Graham Norton show I think and seemed really shocked/annoyed when it was suggested Carrie was unlikable

@Flamingo49

I read a really interesting article with Lucy Prebble (who wrote I Hate Suzie etc), where she talked about how it's much less acceptable for female characters to have unlikeable qualities. It's so true, we don't analyse and critique male TV characters in the same way at all.
I absolutely believe that to be true.

I recently finished watching the full run, first revisit in years and still enjoyed it immensely ( the movies not so muchConfused )
I agree that Miranda was the best character ( and Actress ) by a country mile. Some of the sex scenes she did, I was crying with laughter..and Jason Lewis as Samantha's boyfriend? Just. Wow!🤗
Was quite bereft when I got to the end again..

The Paris episode was incredible: how does anyone find themselves at a loose end in Paris?!?!

I also hated how she simpered at men, but spoke normally with women. Do some men honestly find that attractive? I can’t simper so this may explain why I’m single!

Yes she’s a total knob at times but many film and TV characters are deeply flawed and/or unlikeable, it’s what keeps us entertained

It clearly worked as here we are still talking about it Grin

I love that bit where they talk about "is the ass now back on the menu". Their brunches looked so much fun.

And valley of the 20 something girls. Where they hate younger women. Kind of funny for an empowered feminist show.

I also love the Aiden proposal. And Aiden generally. Big was an arse.

I want to watch it again!

Bloody overrated shite!

RoseAndGeranium · 16/07/2021 01:10

That episode where she sends Auden round to pick up poor Miranda after she’s collapsed naked on the bathroom floor. And when Miranda’s breastfeeding and struggling to concentrate so instead of making her tea and supporting her like an actual friend she condescendingly kisses her on the head and goes off for a date ‘with her city’. She’s a monster.
I think we do talk about how awful male characters are, don’t we? I know I talk a lot about how completely disgusting I think Don Draper is. But I guess he also has a big following.
