Boring thread alert..but does anyones 15 year old have a summer job?

My ds seems to be doing a lot more with his friends lately and there’s only so much I’m willing to fund.

Don't you have to get up at the crack of dawn to do a paper round?

CheshireSplat · 16/07/2021 00:24

The kind of things I did at this age were dog walking babysitting, watering plants etc. Maybe with enquiring with neighbours.

I would pay a 15 year old to look after my children for a few hours whilst I worked from home.

He gets up at 645 as being 13 they're not allowed to leave the newsagent until 7am. We live near by and he cycles down. He's back within an hour. It's a four mile round trip for him but his round is small and compact together wich is nice for him

Cheerio21 · 16/07/2021 17:37

Second paper job.
Any cafes around?

Hellcatspangle · 16/07/2021 17:40

Someone I know is doing very well washing cars (he charges a fiver) another is pot washing at a pizza place. I'd recommend them posting on a local Facebook page or on the next door app saying they're available.

My two didn't work until they got to 16 as nowhere round here would have them until then.

That's not so bad then. Good for him.

DD15 just got a job in a local sandwich shop, she handed out letters to every shop on the local high street and they got back to her. It's hard work but she loves it.

Hortuslover · 16/07/2021 22:56

Thanks everyone.
There’s a few nice cafes in town so I’ll get him to apply himself. I was under the impression people had to be at least 16 nowadays.
It’d be nice to get him work experience after the awful year they’ve had at school, he leaves next year Shock

My 15 year old ds just got a paper round for the summer for £25 a week

kazza446 · 17/07/2021 00:03

My ds is 15. He has a job in an ice cream parlour. He is treated well. Came out with £215 last month!

DS(16) had a paper round before the newsagent shut down a couple of years ago.
He did some online applications and had one interview with KFC but didn't hear back after that.

What worked was putting a notice out in the church newsletter to say that 16 year old ds was willing to do jobs, for minimum wage over the summer. He is now doing various bits of gardening twice a week which suits him.
