Help please: effective but inexpensive solar garden lights

I may be asking for the impossible but can anyone recommend some garden solar lights that actually give out some light (for ambiance, not to illuminate areas), and are not expensive? Oh, and they should give out warm/yellow light, not cold/blue white light please.

Do they exist? Thank you.

I don't mean this to sound arsey, but have you tried going to Amazon, searching for "warm white solar lights" and sorting by average customer review? There are loads and loads with good ratings (if you believe Amazon reviews) in all sorts of styles, and it depends a lot on what style you want, and where in the garden you'll put them.

InTheNameOfAllThatIsHonest · 15/07/2021 18:31

But that's the issue - you never know whether you can trust online reviews. At least here you get recommendations from 'real' people...

Got mine from b and m bargains £1 each and they look lovely, however, they are white and not warm yellow. They might do them in other colours though

I know someone who gets sent tons of amazon things to review and doesn't even try them but writes reviews, it's made me suspicous of a lot of the reviews now.

FizzyPink · 15/07/2021 19:04

I have tried so many from Amazon and they’re just not very bright. I don’t know if it’s just solar lights in general but we’re going to have an outside plug fitted so we can hopefully get some that are a bit brighter.

i got some pretty good ones off amazon

Jjacobb · 15/07/2021 19:10

I can't find them on the website so I've taken pictures of these I bought in Wilko two weeks ago.
They have a flickering candle effect, they're bright enough to illuminate the area and look really pretty. They were £7.

I have these in my garden. Really pretty, don’t need much sunlight for them to work, but they are copper wired so not sure if that a what you want. I love them as I can wind them around anything and the wires are quite strong and barely noticeable.

I'm not sure if it's just my local, but Sainsbury's has a sale on garden stuff at the moment and they have some solar lights and lamps for 50p-£10.

TwinklyTits · 15/07/2021 19:15

I got these from Amazon and they are fab. And they're still only £10. I put them along my garden shed and they are lovely at night I have a pic somewhere if you want to see them installed

Thank you all for the input. I do not want any wired ones because I want the flexibility of positioning them where I like. The overhead ones are very nice @TwinklyTits but I got these www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07MD4XGC9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?psc=1&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&ie=UTF8 from Amazon to have decent (and very warm - yay) overhead light. I had already got a couple of sets from Costco but they were sold out there so I got more from Amazon.

I will see what I can find and give them a shot. The good thing is that they are not expensive. Just a shame because they are plastic and I'd rather not buy plastic stuff I won't enjoy/use.

I'd recommend these, I have two sets in my back garden and they give off a lovely warm light. They have lasted almost a year and although don't always stay on all night in the depths of winter if they haven't had much sun to charge them during they day, I have found them to be really good www.thesolarcentre.co.uk/products/Elan_Solar_Fairy_Lights_Warm_White_100_LEDs-815-77.html

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 16/07/2021 14:13

are really nice in my garden

They look nice!

Forty-six quid?Shock
The other problem with asking people on here is that we don't all agree about what is meant by "not expensive" Grin

InTheNameOfAllThatIsHonest · 17/07/2021 09:15

£46 was for wired ones. The inexpensive ones I'm after are solar ones...
