Pigeons love our trampoline, what can I do to make them leave?

The DC's had been begging and begging for a trampoline for ages, two weeks ago their uncle surprised them by buying an obnoxiously large one for our small garden. We set it up and the Dc's completely love it. My mobility is crap right now due to my disability so it would be great to have for them over the summer if we don't manage to get out and about that much. However, we live in a semi-rural area with pigeons the size of small dogs, and they have decided to make the top of the trampoline net the local pigeon hang out. They kindly sit with their bums sticking in to the trampoline and just sit there, all day, pooing all over it. There are four of the buggers on it right now. Earlier today one fell in and almost hurt itself trying to get back out.

What do I do? The kids will be bereft if I take it down before the summer holidays but it's going to get continuously covered in bird poo and I'm also worried it's going to hurt one of the birds who can't manage to fly back out.

Help please!

Same problem here unfortunately. Have to give the thing a good clean each time. Annoying but haven't found a solution and not sure there is one.

A cat

Buy the children an air rifle. When they’re not trampolining they can hone their marksmanship skills.

Get one of those fake hawks on a long bendy pole .

I wonder if glue on strips of pigeon spikes would work? It looks like they can be flexible to curve around.
Make sure you get the uncle to install them though!! Smile
I also read that they don't like sticky substances so to smear the top with honey (though that will no doubt lead to an ant infestation so please ignore me!)

A fake hawk might be a good idea, I might try sticking one to a pole on the top of the trampoline and see what happens. Can't get a cat unfortunately as DS is allergic.

One of those camping flags on a long pole? Like at festivals, would guess a bird of prey one would do.

Pigeon spikes fixed with cable ties worked reasonably well. Horrible birds & horrible poo! Def ask uncle to do this though... it is fiddly and high!

Beebityboo · 15/07/2021 18:13

Would pigeon spikes hurt them though, if they tried to sit on it again?

Sellotape or staple some strips of tinfoil to the top of the net?
Birds don’t like it as it blows in the wind and reflects the light.
