The combined pill and a teen

wanted to pick all your brains because I know you're all so clued up and experienced in this stuff. my daughter has anxiety and it's definitely worse when she is due her period she is fit and healthy otherwise. She also suffers from acne.

Went to see Doc yesterday to see if there was anything we could do to regulate her cycle and calm down the PMT, Doc provided her with prescription combined pill. ridgeviden

However the name rang alarm bells with me so I looked it up and now freaking out because of the bad press it's had, just wondered if you had any experience of this either yourself or more specifically with a 16-year-old she isn't sexually active so we don't need it for pregnancy control just PMT and possibly acne however the acne isn't that bad and she does manage to keep her face clear generally on her own but she does get quite bad acne on her back and is quite self-conscious about that

I don't know whether I should ring the dog back and ask for a different prescription.

It was rigevidon my dd (17) was prescribed recently for period issues. She's only been taking it for 1 month so far. I'm keeping an eye out for adverse effects

Why not ring the doc back and ask to discuss your concerns and go from there?

sanityisamyth · 15/07/2021 15:28

Go into a pharmacy and ask to talk to the pharmacist. They know drugs and drug-interactions and side effects inside out!

My DD was exactly the same & too frequent & heavy period too & was told to take a full dose of B6, ideally in a complete B complex supplement. I'll add a photo of what we got in a second.

It worked wonders for her, so long as she took it daily. If she isn't sexually active, I'd highly recommend going that route first. Do be careful of any other supplements that might contain any B6 though, as you can have too much. Food sources are fine, your body will deal with that

Thank you for the recommendation in the b6 . I was hoping to try herbal first tbh

Angus cactus is supposed to be good but apparently not recommended for under 18.

I also ordered her a low dose cbd capsules for her anxiety

Dd is 14 and was on the combined pill. It gave her migraines and the doc took her off it immediately.
She's now on the mini pill. Her periods have stopped. She's in less pain and her mood swings are so much better.

SingingInTheShithouse · 15/07/2021 20:25

🤞🤞🤞 for you

Have a read of a booked called the period repair manual. There is tons of information in there about teens and period issues.

The author is quite anti pill for young women, especially in the early years of periods
