Anyone else spending everyday alone with their kids in the summer holidays?

We've been on holiday a few weeks now with still around five weeks to go. We live away from family and a good distance from the kids school so they don't see their friends locally.
It's just occurred to me today while sitting in the park alone watching my dc play that this will be us for the whole holiday.
I'm not sure if this bothers me or not? I don't think it does 🤔
I've a few friends that I will maybe meet up with a couple of times and I'm out everyday with the dc getting fresh air.
My dc are really close and play well together but we live in quite an "old" estate so unless we go to the park/beach they don't see many children.
Both are popular with friends at school but we've never got into the whole exchanging numbers with other parents for the holidays and it's only now I'm wondering if I should make more of an effort (too late this summer though 🙄)
I've had a few bad experiences over the years with being spectacularly stabbed in the back by so called friends that I'm quite happy in my own company most of the time now.
Is anyone else facing spending the holidays quietly or is everyone else inundated with invites?

We are certainly not inundated with invites and will probably be doing much the same as you OP. Personally I think after a busy school year a bit of quiet time will be good for them. Also for COVID reasons I’m also less inclined to do too much. But then I’m a natural introvert so I wonder also if I should make more of an effort. I don’t ever remember doing much in the summer when I was at school and I quite enjoyed that feeling of boredom and acres of free time, or at least I think I did!

Similar op. Fortunately my dc will play together and my eldest has found some voluntary work for a few days a week which will break things up a bit. I'm not inclined to go too far (thanks covid). We might have a couple of meet ups over the hols but it will be low key. Invariably I end up entertaining or else we will meet up at the park. Absolutely zero planned at the moment Usually we go away on holiday to break things up a bit but not this year.

My two are secondary school age now, but over the years we've never met up with people over the summer.

It's always been this way for us, although now they are older they will meet with friends as they are of an age to organise it themselves.

This makes me feel better and more normal in not having loads of labs. I sometimes look at other women together when I'm out and wonder how they know each other but I'm not bothered enough to try and make more contacts.
Im sure we all know people who can't pop into the town centre or the supermarket without doing it with a girlfriend which totally baffles me but I sometimes wonder if I'm too far the other way 🤔

Yep, lone parent.

Plans not labs!

Don't blame you OP. We wi have some meet ups, but not with school friends. We've had enough of those!

Well, DS2's birthday's in the holidays, so he'll have a party, otherwise it'll be the DC socialising, not me.

I'm a lone parent and I make an effort to make sure they're around other children during the holidays really. Holiday clubs are good if you don't have family/friends around with children. Mine are booked in once a week over the holidays.

Dc was made redundant after the 1st lockdown so I wasn't alone over the holidays last year and won't be for these. Before then though I was: I don't have any friends and all of my family work full-time but I'm a teacher so of course I am off for the school holidays (I refuse to be the family babysitter though).

It was boring and lonely at times but not too bad; my dc play well with each other and they have friends in the street so often go out to play with them. This is great for me because I don't have to fanny about organising those playdate events that people go on about on here, I don't have to sit awkwardly in the company of an almost stranger and try to make small talk with them and I get to enjoy peace and quiet with a hot cup of tea.

I took them on a couple of daytrips to local castles and NT/EH places or to the seaside too so I could also get out of the house.

We meet friends maybe one day a week but the bulk of the time it's just me and my trio. I don't mind it.
