Who does a young, moustachioed Tony Jacklin remind me of?

Apologies for the weirdness of this thread, but it's been bugging me for days!

I recently caught the tail end of an episode of Sykes from 1973, which featured a young, moustachioed Tony Jacklin, and I thought, "Gosh doesn't he look like....." and then came to a grinding halt.

And I can't for the life of me think who he reminds me of, though I'm pretty sure it's someone famous and not just Fred from down the road!

So, wise people of Mumsnet, who is it? Please put me out of my misery!

I wonder if he just reminds me of himself... but I don't recall ever seeing him in that era before, so how would I know?

One of your older relatives in photos from that era? I was looking at some photos of my dad from the 1970s a few weeks ago. In a group shot of him on a lads holiday, they all had mustaches.

At the time I used to think Tony Jacklin and Des O'Connor had a similar 'affect', IYSWIM. Didn't actually look alike but something about them...

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks of Peter Wyngarde (Jason King) when these photos pop up! Or does it remind you of the photos in the hairdressers, OP - remember those black and white shots that used to be on the walls.

I guessed Peter Wyngarde too. Mind you, it could also be the illustration from most knitting patterns that my mum ever bought.

If you ignore the moustache, he resembles Julian Ovenden a bit around the eyes, I think.

I keep trying not to think about it in the hope that it will sneak up on me. It hasn't yet.

I have a really clear image of this man standing side on (probably to camera) showing his right profile, dressed in slacks and a sports jacket (so probably a long time ago), being quite diffident/shy but with a really lovely smile. It's as though I saw him being interviewed, or perhaps as a celebrity on someone else's show (but not Morecambe and Wise). It's definitely a moving image I'm thinking of, not static.

Or that could all be bollocks and I've dreamt the entire thing!
