Can we have a uni reminiscing thread?

I have Olympic gold level nostalgia for my youth in general, but the stand out was my time at uni. I loved it - I think possibly because I had a false start at a university where I just couldn't settle and was very unhappy.

I loved 'my' university campus, the course, the city, and of course all the friendships and the people you meet. Met my best friend there.

Just now I'm thinking of how best friend and I would go to our favourite cafe where you could get a big lunch for about £3.50 in 2006 Grin We spent so much time there!

And all the clothes I had. And shoes. And of course we all pretty much had double the wardrobe options really because we shared stuff.

Everything was so close in the compact city we were in and hopping around from A to B was so easy - compared to London, and NYC where I live now, where it seems to take ages getting around.

We were quite bloody broke nearly all the time but always had a few bob for a cheap night out Grin

What are your fond memories from university? Do you miss it?

I miss the sheer sense of possibility . How the future stretches before you full of exciting horizons. I really miss feeling like I have all the time in the world.

I loved uni! Met amazing people and have some wonderful memories! But thank goodness there was no social media! The things we did!

I loved the freedom and independence of being a student. I’ve had never felt it before or after. We were given a grant (late 80s), with no conditions attached to it. You could spend it how and when you wanted.

I went to a small uni with a unique and eclectic mix of people. It was truly a special time.

Do I miss it - yes! What I miss? You weren’t tied to anything such as jobs, you had money in your pocket given to you, and you lived your own life. No job, mortgages, responsibilities etc.
