When did you feel ready to get rid of baby clothes?

I appreciate this is probably a non-problem but I'm trying to get rid of some of my baby's clothes. I'm finding it really hard. The reality is I probably won't have another baby but I can't seem to let stuff go. I never thought I was sentimental and my boy is now 20 months old. But I'm really struggling to find things to get rid of to a friend who I know will appreciate them.

When my youngest was 3, I had their first ever outfits plus all the special ones I loved, made into a huge patchwork quilt! It was expensive but very much worth it to me. Plus they are now on display rather than tucked in a drawer!

I found it really difficult so made a memory blanket out of them. Its lovely having the kids snuggle underneath it. Brings back a lot of memories.

@Touchtoomuch

I think it is more that I feel like I'm letting a second child go. Maybe I'm strange in feeling how I do. I hate clutter but I can't seem to let it go yet.

Thanks @PieceOfString I'll check that out.

I'm the same OP and my daughter is nearly 5. Everything i kept is in storage boxes in the loft. Just in case.....

When my daughter was about 1. I hate keeping stuff for the sake of keeping it. I donated a lot, sold some and had some made into a blanket. I now declutter every time she goes up a size (she’s 4)

Even if I’d wanted a second, realistically I’d probably have wanted to get new stuff for them anyway, and they might have been a boy, so I was never keeping the clothes for that reason anyway.

I did keep hold of one dress she had when she was about one. It’s absolutely gorgeous and was brought from overseas by her grandmother, so it’s very unique. It felt too nice to just hand over to anyone so I waited and am now giving it to a friend who had a little girl recently.

I’m 41 and my youngest is 6, I’ve just got doing it this year.

With my first things were kept because I knew we hoped for a second child. With the second I conveniently had a nephew several months younger so passed things on as we moved up the sizes, with the exception of anything I was particularly attached to, or any special gifts from the other side of the family which will be kept in case of babies on that side.

I've still got a lot of them in the loft and he's 30. But every few years I come across them and they remind me so vividly of when he was little and I can't believe something over 6ft tall once fitted into the tiny little sleeves...
