I’ve got a cat on my bed and I don’t own a cat

I know I’m probably making a rod for my own back!

Neighbours got 2 cats. Closely followed by a husky. The husky terrorises the cats. I’m not even sure they’re allowed in the house anymore but if they make it inside they’re quickly chased out by the bloody dog.

They’ve both lost weight. I’ve been feeding them. I do have a dog but he’s v tolerant. One cat is more confident than the other and tonight it darted inside while I was putting the bin out.

Am I doing the right thing? He’s curled up with my dog as we speak

We had to have our dog and cat put to sleep in the space of two weeks. The kids were devastated. There's a cat that lives at the back of us that used to try and get in house but our cat and dog weren't keen on her and used to chase her out.
The day after the dog died she moved in.
I've spoke to her owner who is happy to let her come and go. She's just finished off my daughter porridge and is snoozing in the sofa.

Well this little sod is stalking a bush down the street as we speak. I think he’s just fine Grin

Oh he looks like one of mine who we think was abandoned and followed us home from a walk. We tried to find his owners but nobody claimed him. He’s the loveliest cat and we wouldn’t be without him.

Just been chatting to a different neighbour- he too is feeding both cats and the scaredy cat seems to trust him so he is getting plenty of food.

Confident cat strolled into his kitchen this morning and ate his corned beef pie he had our ready for lunch.

Clearly living the life of Riley despite the husky and my sympathy won’t be as apparent when he comes for his evening chin scratch Grin

Told you Grin cats are master con artists. Our little one went through a phase of coming home with food bags of strange meaty cubey things (technical term) in his mouth, I still dont know what they were, maybe something someone had bagged up for fishing bait. I looked up why he did this and apparently he was trying to feed his family and thinks i'm not a very good hunter. Of course this prompted the dc to mercilessly take the mick out of my cooking. I'm just waiting for the day he drags a whole cooked chicken over the fence for us.

I want a cat that is mine sitting on my lap. My two are the least friendly cats I've ever owned. Boo.

Visit me, madam loves a new knee to sit on.

I know she sleeps on the belly of one of my neighbours, she just treats his home as her second home.

I love cat stories. How much of a shit they just don’t give. Confident cat knocked on the door for some roast chicken earlier.

My uncle in London found a stray kitten a few years back. He put up posters and stuff but in the end took the cat in. After a few years said cat went missing. When asking around neighbours one said “oh that’s strange, our cat is missing too”.

Yip, same cat. They’d both found the kitten at slightly different times. Put posters up at slightly different times. The cat was registered at 2 different vets and was insured by both families.

Little shit was found in the third house of an elderly lady where he ate toast with butter for breakfast and salmon for lunch.

We adopted ours from a local charity. They were rescued from a feral colony as kittens, both had the most awful, sickly starts with ‘flu, eye infections, riddled with fleas and worms. They’re the most affectionate cat we have ever owned (over 35 years). They’re more like little dogs. They sit by me while I’m gardening, under DH’s desk when he’s working, sleep on youngest’s bed, come when they’re called (individually, by name) and have managed to ingratiate themsekves with our very haughty, breeder reared 7 year old boy.
I like to think that they remember their terrible start and are just happy that they’ve found “home” and their family Smile

At our old house our little shits used to sit on the kitchen windowsill of their pet elderly lady because she was one of those who got up at 5 am every day.

They'd have their first breakfast with her and come back to ours a couple of hours later for another one.

I told her many times that we did indeed feed them and to ignore them telling her they were neglected. But I think she got a lot of pleasure from their antics so I turned a blind eye.
