Accommodation for family of 5 central London

Do anyone know of any reasonable hotels that have family suites to accommodate family of 5?

We are holidaying in London in a few weeks. Normally when we went abroad we would get an Airbnb but the only ones I can find in our price bracket don't have AirConditioning and it looks to be very hot. Also the Airbnb in London reviews seem a bit suspect. If anyone could recommend an Airbnb too that would be great.

We don't want to spend any more than £250ish per night.
We can get the usual premier inn but would need 2 rooms and I prefer to all be together if possible.

Maybe it's asking too much?

Have you looked at youth hostels? We were looking into this as an option as we are a family of 5 too

dreamingbohemian · 12/07/2021 14:25

Why do you think it will be very hot in London? It might be fine. I would still go for an AirBNB, hotel air con is not always great anyway and you can't open the windows so it can get very stifling.

Hmmm thank you @41sunnydays I wanted it to be a bit nicer than youth hostel. I know , I know, I want cheap but nice.
If we can't find anywhere like service apartments or large family room we will probably just get 2 rooms at the premier inn.

We just would have liked to have somewhere nice to come back to and chill at night.

How about this?

I took a guess at children's ages and dates, but this came up top of the list - well within your budget and very central. Looks like there would be a fair few places that could work for you on that site?

PiccalilliChilli · 12/07/2021 14:36

Have you tried Citadines Aparthotels? They are serviced apartments.

holidaysareheresoon · 12/07/2021 14:45

@dreamingbohemian it's predicted to be 27/28 degrees when we go. I find it hard to sleep at home if goes over 20 degrees.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Air con isn't really a thing in London in residential properties! Maybe more luck with hotels, but you'll probably pay £££ for the pleasure.
Have a look on booking and trip advisor where you can filter results.

tintodeverano2 · 12/07/2021 15:00

Also, London is a big place. You may need to narrow down the area a bit.

dreamingbohemian · 12/07/2021 15:03

Hmm I'm not sure how accurate that can be weeks in advance -- I understand you don't want to take the chance though!

Have you done a search on booking.com? You can specify number of people so it tends to bring up places with family rooms.

EssentialHummus · 12/07/2021 15:04

I’d be minded to a) get an Airbnb, perhaps a bit further out but with easy access to the centre of town and b) spend the money you save on a fan (bring one down with you if driving, or get one at Argos) if it really will be that hot. I live in central-ish London and I don’t think I know anyone with aircon.

crummyusername · 12/07/2021 15:09

See if there is a Premier Inn with interconnecting rooms? There’s one right by Russell Square if I remember rightly. I’d be v careful about central London Airbnb (as a Londoner myself). You do also need to narrow down the area!

motogogo · 12/07/2021 15:19

We paid £110 for a room recently near Gloucester rd tube, it had an interconnecting door and was 2 double beds. Air con, pool, walking distance to museums and Hyde park, restaurants near by

motogogo · 12/07/2021 15:20

Otherwise try the travel lodge near kings cross, had a family room sleeping 5

emmathedilemma · 12/07/2021 15:43

If you use booking.com there's an option to filter your search by rooms that have air conditioning. There's loads of options depending on your budget!

holidaysareheresoon · 12/07/2021 18:53

@motogogo - that sounds good. What hotel was that?

I've done a search on booking.com snd trivago etc.
No where seems to have large family rooms to accommodate 5.
Thank you everyone.
The Airbnbs in central London in our price bracket look well dodgy 😝.
I was just wondering if anyone had been in similar situation but found a hidden gem.

Premier inns don't fo interconnecting rooms. We will probably just get 2 rooms.

@crummyusername I apologise, I've just done a search as it says some premier inns do have interconnecting rooms! Have you stayed at one?

crummyusername · 12/07/2021 19:25

@holidaysareheresoon I’ve stayed in Premier Inn family rooms but not the interconnecting family ones (and not in London as I live there!). Always found them scrupulously clean, with friendly staff and awesome value for money.

Queenie6655 · 12/07/2021 19:31

Premier inn Tate modern

We stayed few weeks ago

Was heaven so so lovely

Kind staff
Fab location

The air con was fine
But it was below 20c so not always used

Look up the reviews on trip advisor

SBAM · 12/07/2021 19:32

I don’t know if the rooms are big enough, but have you looked at the Staybridge suites? There’s one in stratford by the Olympic park and I think a central London one too.
My family members have used them before and rated them highly.
