Anyone had private paediatric dental extraction under general anesthesia?

Does anyone know of a hospital that offers paediatric dental extraction under general anesthesia as a private procedure? Asking on here as been emailing private hospitals and getting nowhere. I think perhaps paediatric GA is something that is not done privately as the high risks mean it is not a profitable procedure to offer privately.

2 year old DD was referred in May to the local hospital by dentist for an extraction under general anesthesia as her ongoing dental issues had caused an abscess. The dentist warned of long delays due to Covid but I did not expect to still be waiting mid July. Since then she has had two more abcesses and courses of antibiotics and the paeds dentist has chased the hospital but still no date for her extraction under GA.

I am getting desperate and at this point if someone told me it would be £10k to get it done this week I would raid my savings and pay that.. but there is seemingly nowhere that offers this kind of private dental surgery.

We are currently waiting for a call back from GP as she currently has a high temperature and vomiting and I am worried about the possibility of the infection spreading. We can't go on like this, I know this decay is my fault (caused by extended bf) but I cannot believe there is so little help available for a 2 year old.

I'm no help but my 2 year old was also referred in April and we're still waiting too. Pain in the ass isn't it.

Unfortunately the wait times are measured in years rather than weeks :( hope you can get help. Please write to your local MP about this! As a dentist the situation is distressing and depressing and we need better funding of secondary care!

I very much doubt this service exists. Very few private hospitals treat children. Where in the country are you?

We are in the South West, but I would travel anywhere in the country.

I think the only place you may get this service would be one of the big private London hospitals. My advice would be to go back to your dentist & ask them to plead your case as urgent (repeated abscess’ requiring antibiotics) with the local maxillofacial or paediatric dentistry department, your local community dentist may also be able to help. It is possible for your dentist to take out a tooth on a two year old with local anaesthetic (injection), the experience won’t be very pleasant, but probably preferable to constant tooth ache. I suspect your DD will need more than one tooth removing though?

You could try the Eastman Dental Hospital in London.

They have a fab paediatric department.
She may not need a GA.

Have a Google.
