What do you stuff wet shoes with to dry them if you haven't bought a newspaper in a decade?

Normally my parents keep us well supplied with newspaper from their daily habit when they visit, but they haven't been here in 18 months.

Kitchen roll

LazyDoll · 11/07/2021 15:29

Ask neighbours to save their newspapers for us.

HerbErtlinger · 11/07/2021 15:30

Washed dds trainers yesterday and used kitchen roll

Tyredofallthis1 · 11/07/2021 15:31

disposable nappies.

Failing that, towels and change them often.

JamMakingWannaBe · 11/07/2021 15:39

Tea towels or kitchen roll. Stick them next to a dehumidifier too.

UnbeatenMum · 11/07/2021 15:40

I turn them upside down and put them on a radiator.

StarryStarrySocks · 11/07/2021 15:42

Haha, my shoes got soaked last week and it was just luck that my dad was visiting so there was a newspaper handy!

BuffySummersReportingforSanity · 11/07/2021 15:51

Tea towels should work! We have about a billion (conservative estimate) and DS2's wellies are sopping.

I put them in the airing cupboard - In fact I have 2 pairs drying nicely in there just now

mawbroon · 11/07/2021 16:03

I pick up the free Metro paper on the bus solely for this purpose!

INeedNewShoes · 11/07/2021 16:04

Kitchen roll. If the shoes were quite clean I then keep the kitchen roll for next time so that it doesn't feel do wasteful!

Bairnsmum05 · 11/07/2021 16:14

I miss an airing cupboard!

Bargebill19 · 11/07/2021 16:16

Clean cleaning rags. Always have a bag or two handy. Just wash, dry and reuse.

NeedNewKnees · 11/07/2021 16:16

Tea towels or those hundreds of IKEA 10-pack facecloths they sell. I use them for everything, they’re great.

itsgettingwierd · 11/07/2021 16:16

Tea towels 🤣

I use tea towels for practically everything.

dannydyerismydad · 11/07/2021 16:17

I pick up a free Waitrose weekend magazine whenever I'm passing gif just such an occasion.

olderthanyouthink · 11/07/2021 16:54

Amazon's packing paper or muslins (we use them for everything)

BuffySummersReportingforSanity · 11/07/2021 17:13

Amazon packing paper, of course. I've got some sitting right here!

Sadly I am deprived of an airing cupboard, but I do usually dry them on top of the hot water tank in my utility room.

I've never heard of this!

nervousseacreature · 12/07/2021 00:39

I save the silica sachets from parcels. I have a little stash of them

Totallydefeated · 12/07/2021 00:40

Regina Blitz does the job nicely

RubyGoat · 12/07/2021 00:40

I have to go on the train every 3 months for an appointment so I pick up any abandoned copies of the Metro. Radiator racks or put them in the boiler cupboard.

Poppins2016 · 12/07/2021 00:46

Socks. The best ones for the purpose are the fluffy, synthetic "slipper sock" type.

Classicbrunette · 12/07/2021 00:47

i put them in the greenhouse. it’s always warm/hot in there.

BonnieLisbon · 12/07/2021 00:52

I miss the free papers we used to get. They were good for lining the food waste bin (and reading)
