it made me sad to see a dog's lead attached to the waist of someone walking smartly

My dog is on a lead attached to my waist. I have arthritis in my hands.

Just cos you didn’t see them taking time to sniff trees doesn’t mean they never do it.

What an odd, judgemental post.

Crockof · 11/07/2021 10:36

Yep as I thought, there have been a flood of them the last few days Biscuit

AbsolutelyPatsy · 11/07/2021 10:38

I’m not sure a thin Lab exists Grin
AbsolutelyPatsy · 11/07/2021 10:41

thank you @NoSquirrels for answering sensibly, that may of course have been the case

oh, @NoSquirrels Sad you have joined in with the jesting, i was referring to your previous post

‘A thin lab’ ?!

Clearly OP, you don’t know dogs very well, therefore I don’t think you’re very well placed to judge on this one Grin

AbsolutelyPatsy · 11/07/2021 10:42

unlike the clever @SmidgenofaPigeon,
who knows all the breeds

OP posts:
AbsolutelyPatsy · 11/07/2021 10:43

what is a dog that looks like a thin lab?

OP posts:
Cavagirl · 11/07/2021 10:43

Am I the only person who thought this was a fashion thread?

SmidgenofaPigeon · 11/07/2021 10:45

Like, a black greyhound? Indeed, what breed of dog does look like a thin lab, but not a lab? Black or yellow? I’m flummoxed.

AbsolutelyPatsy · 11/07/2021 10:45

golden colour

As others have said, the dog may have other walks where they can have a good sniff around. You don't really have enough information to make a judgment.

Ghosttile · 11/07/2021 10:47

If you saw me walking briskly down the centre of the path, with my dog on a very short lead, you’d judge. It’s actually to get her past what’s, for about 6 weeks in the summer, apparently the tastiest grass in a 5k radius. She’s fine everywhere else but on that 300m stretch she snatches mouthfuls of grass like a tiny pony if she gets close to the side of the path. It doesn’t make her sick but it does lead to unfortunate poo incidents, with a lump dangling from her arse on a less green strand of grass.

You only see a snapshot.

AbsolutelyPatsy · 11/07/2021 10:47

no it is the waist lead i judge

OP posts:
pinkcircustop · 11/07/2021 10:48

Of course you are wrong. It’s an animal, a pet. Not a child Hmm

NoSquirrels · 11/07/2021 10:48

@AbsolutelyPatsy

oh, *@NoSquirrels* Sad you have joined in with the jesting, i was referring to your previous post
Sorry! Just that a thin Labrador is not a thing because they’re famously greedy bastards Grin

Perhaps a lurcher?

Ylfa · 11/07/2021 10:48

Did it have long or short fur? Sticky up ears or floppy ones? Did you notice its tail carriage?

Ylfa · 11/07/2021 10:49

Working or working type Labradors often look very lean.

AbsolutelyPatsy · 11/07/2021 10:49

there is another man with a similar type near me, i shall ask him

My dog walks are for me as well as my dog. I don't want to hang about on street corners all the time whilst they pee up every lamppost.

But I do provide a variety. Sometimes I march around and expect my dog to keep up and not sniff about especially if I have to go to work and don't have time. Others I'll book a dog field. Take them off lead to the woods. Go to the beach. I train them indoors or play ball.

It's a snapshot of one walk. I feel more sad for the dogs who never leave their gardens or get abused not ones whose owners are taking them out. Most dogs are very pampered.

LunaNorth · 11/07/2021 10:51

Viszla?

IDontDrinkTea · 11/07/2021 10:51

Oh gosh. I use a waist belt all the time… it means I have both hands then free for trying to stop my toddler riding her scooter straight into the path of oncoming traffic. I also use a waist belt for running with the dog… my dog isn’t really one for stopping and sniffing, even if off lead. A slow sniffy walk does not tire her out at all, she much prefers a 10km run alongside me!

Sparklingbrook · 11/07/2021 10:52

Thin lab gets a walk and some exercise and the owner walks smartly. Sounds fine to me. Maybe there's walking smartly walks and at other times off the lead, sniffing and rolling in fox poo type walks.
