Podcasts like Fortunately? Or other ideas?

I absolutely LOVE Fortunately with Fi and Jane but am always disappointed with it being over so quickly and there only being one a week!

Are there any others like it?

Or what podcasts do you also listen to if you listen to Fortunately. Even if v different? I'm fairly new to the podcast game but now love listening to something while exercising/walking/cleaning and need new ones to discover and get into.

I have listened to some audiobooks but find they require a bit more concentration at time so not as good when out and about. I enjoyed a couple of real crime ones from BBC Sounds but am not keen on anything too gruesome, have also enjoyed Teach Me a Lesson and You're Dead to Me but found them a bit hit and miss.

TIA

Thanks Waltzing, have downloaded the Google Podcast app and subscribed to loads of these suggestions. Started with French and Saunders when walking the dog and loving it so far!

Also fan of Louis Theroux's podcast and also listen to 'something rhymes with purple' with Susie Dent ( Countdown) and Gyles.

Yes - Adam Buxton, Fearne Cotton Haapy Place are good. Also a bit different but I've recently started listening to We Can Do Hard Things, Glennon Doyle which I love.

Death in Ice Valley and The Immaculate Deception were both fascinating documentary type series that I was hooked on, particularly the Ice Valley one-beautifully produced and I'm still trying to get hold of the background music!

For something entirely different I absolutely adore Gossipmongers. People send in their 'gossip' (usually local rumours or tales from high school) and then each episode the hosts decide which is the best one. It is very silly, very rude, at times slightly gross and honestly side splittingly funny. I actually laugh hugely out loud when listening which is really rare when listening on your own (well it is for me anyway). Features Joe Wilkinson and David Earl both of whom have done some TV stuff and they are just magically funny together-very dry, deadpan and then get overcome with the ludicrous nature of the anecdotes they're reading out and collapse into hysterics. I really really hope they make more!

Oh my god, gossipmongers! Listening on your recommendation. Hilarious.

I really enjoyed How Do You Cope with Elis & John, which is interviews with well-known people about traumatic events in their life.

MollyBloomYes · 22/07/2021 03:29

@RubyFowler you're welcome, it's so good isn't it?! I might listen again actually, it's that good I reckon even the anticipation of the humour will be enough to make me laugh!

I love podcasts and listen when I'm in the car on my own - visit clients for work, so get a few hours most weeks for this, also while having a decent daily walk and doing stuff in the house.

Another vote for Older and Wider with Jenni Eclair and her mate Judith, and Something Rhymes with Purple with Suzi Dent and Gyles Brandreth, entertaining and educational too, interesting if you like words and language or want to learn more.

Scummy Mummies.

There's lots of food chat/interview ones, like Out to Lunch by Jay Rayner, Hoovering with Jessica Fostekew, Off Menu and Comfort Eating with Grace Dent, although she seems a bit marmite on here.

Bad People which is chat about bad people as the name would suggest with comedian Sofie Hagen and a psychologist doctor.

I also like other true crime/investigation ones, there's loads of those on BBC Sounds.

I listen with Antennapod, I tried a few and liked that one most, can't remember why. I've never got on with BBC Sounds, but they do seem to have finally improved it, it was dreadful when it first launched and impossible to listen to a series in order, but I do use it for a few that I like that I can't find on Antennapod, such as Just a Minute.
