We are heading to London next week as we've started school holidays. Please can you recommend a child friendly Chinese restaurant. They've not been to a Chinese restaurant before. We're looking for something nothing too fancy (we did look a Din Tai Fung) but looks a little overwhelming for children etc.

We will be at the National History Museum in the afternoon before heading back towards Picadilly Circus for M&M world

Any suggestions welcome

I'd go goldmine or four seasons in bayswater. God I miss those places. Chinatown probably works better with your schedule though. Any Chinese restaurant is going to be kid friendly really unless it's a super fancy Michelin star place or something - Chinese culture is all about family meals.

@Intercity225 where is a good Chinese near Edgware Road? I’m desperate to find one.

I second won keis too - my kids love it, and I’ve been going there since I was a baby myself! Used to be dirt cheap, but now still good value. Won ton soup is gigantic! Just a great place, love it there.

And there is a Chinese bakery in Chinatown that does ice creams in fish cones which the kids adore too!

I am afraid its not the West End end, if that is what you are hoping - its the other end, about half a mile before the big roundabout with the A406, the North Circular and the start of the M1.

We go to Wing Tai, which is in a mini Chinese retail park, with its own free car parks. The majority of the customers, when we go are Chinese. They do dim sum in the day time, along with the normal "dinner" menu. We go for dim sum, but usually have either roast duck or char Sui with it - they are great.

I had dim sum in China town for nearly 40 years; but Wing Tai while it does not do quite the extensive menu of say New World, is just as good, at what it does do, although its not trolleys; we have to order off the menu (with pictures for those, who don't speak Cantonese).

Next door is a bakery/cafe. I have never eaten there, but DD and her boyfriend (from mainland China) regularly go there for takeaways of two or three roast meats plus rice in a box. There are also a fairly large Chinese supermarket and bubble tea shop (which we have to round off the dim sum).

My recollection of Wong Kei was their "rudeness" which, along with speed of service, was their USP. Fine for adults but I wouldn't have wanted it to be my first experience of a Chinese restaurant.

Yes I wouldn’t take mine there
