Period tracker for more than one person.

My daughter has recently started her period and I'd like to be able to keep track for both of us on one app. She is going to have an app for herself on her phone too but just until she has the hang of it all, I'd like to keep track too.

Does anyone have any recommendations for an app that allows tracking for more than one person please?

Oh I would like one you can track several people on as well, would be helpful as we start young in my family and I have several daughters. I might see if the 12 year old could design something for us.

WeWantAMackerelNotASprat · 10/07/2021 15:19

Mine asked me to track hers for her, she has adhd and struggles at organisational stuff so although she did it too she wanted back up! It's a bit sad those that find it intrusive, maybe some daughters and mothers just don't have the same relationships.

I remember getting a book from the lil-let lady and we were told to track when we first started so we could start to work out a pattern.

Sorry OP I have no idea of an app though!

I think it’s funny all the sarcastic comments about not using and app... ‘it’s called a calendar’

Unless sen why? Just keep the bathroom stocked with products and give her privacy

I track mine on Flo - have PCOS and very painful periods and find it helps me hugely, can plan ahead to an extent . Know which week I need to have painkillers in etc . It does come with some more adult orientated chat functions though so would be wary of giving a younger teen access to it .

motogogo · 10/07/2021 15:38

My dd is autistic btw, never tracked her

PeakyPaula · 10/07/2021 15:38

Trackers are great for mood as well as periods (yes I realise they're linked). It wasn't until I used an app that I realised my pms started the day I ovulated, so basically 50% of the time. It really helped me make sense of my behaviour and made me realise it was hormonal rather than being 'mental' (dp)

anotherwinkywinkybumbum · 10/07/2021 15:45

@motogogo We've discussed it and she's happy for me to help her settle into this new part of her life.

It's been a very difficult year, starting senior school, navigating the trials and tribulations of new friendships and now something else new too.

As they say, if you've met one person with autism, you've met one person with autism. She wants my help with this so that's what I'll do until she's ready to sort it herself. I'm very hands off anyway so this will totally be led by her.

@PeakyPaula oh yes definitely! It really does help when I am having a 'moment'. A quick check of the app and I can be reassured I am just hormonal and not losing the plot. It's very difficult to be rational when in the midst of a hormones!

I use the free version of Flo. I find it really useful to track my period as it's a helpful reminder of where I am in my cycle and explains why I'm having certain symptoms. If you don't use a paper diary, it's much easier to have it on your phone. I wish apps had been available when I was a teenager.

This is a forum, not SM.

But, don't you agree that using a calendar is a much more private solution? It's not good that we are giving away so much personal data and it's really not good that we are teaching the next generation to use tech ( in different degrees I know )to manage their day to day lives.

This is a good example of humans becoming so reliant on tech they can't think for themselves. I am sorry you are struggling with pms, but you really don't need an app to work out when you are ovulating.
PeakyPaula · 10/07/2021 19:36

@Bitofachinwag I started using the app in 2009 on my first smart phone, so not a recent thing. I suffered from unbearable pms for 30 years, been to several drs uncountable times, not once was it mentioned it could related to ovulation.

I see it as a good example of technology helping us realise the connection between 2 things that hadn't been made before.

WeWantAMackerelNotASprat · 11/07/2021 14:03

@motogogo I think your comment makes it seem like periods shouldn't be talked about! This is a problem woman have been dealing with for years, finally the menopause has stopped being a dirty word but only by celebrities standing up. I want my children to be able to discuss bodily functions and not be embarrassed. If they'd like me to track why wouldn't I 🤷🏼‍♀️. It's time we stopped hiding this type of stuff.

Oh she knows and is happy for me to track too. She has autism and is very young for her just turned 12 years. The not knowing when it could happen is very stressful for her.

Sorry to discuss this post after 3 years, but there is such an app now, called: Hers.
You can find it by searching 'Hers - Period record'.
It is designed to record the menstruation of multiple people, so I am very happy to see that there are mothers who care so much about their daughters' menstruation.
If I have such a mother, I should be very touched and love her very much😣
I think it is very beneficial to enhance the mother-child relationship :) This app does not save your data, your menstrual data will be saved on your local computer or synchronized through iCloud, which is also good for data security.
If my wording is a bit strange, it is because I used a translator.
I hope it can help you well.

OneAmberBear · 02/08/2025 00:25

Personally, I would love to be able to do this. My dd at 14 after having regular periods for almost 3yrs, went 5months with no period. I encouraged her to use a calender or tracker herself but kept forgetting. I feel like it could be useful for us mums to know when they are due, especially with girls like mine who seem to prevent with symptoms of PMDD ad opposed to PMS.

One of my girls also has very heavy periods, so when they suddenly stop and I have to seek medical advice it is better for me to have information about her last period accessible.
