I'm having an allergic reaction (hives) to the vaccine. I went to the chemist yesterday morning after the piriton I took the night before didn't work. She advised to see a doctor but ofc my GP didn't ring back so I went to the GP centre at the hospital in the afternoon. Waited hours, just got more anti histamine which I could only get a hold of by walking over a mile to a chemist.

Now today still loads of hives but my eyes and face are swollen too. I feel like crap, am itching all over and got a massive headache. They won't do anything else unless my tongue swells up though right? So no point in getting checked out again? I just can't face another half day sat in that bloody place.

It's exactly how found out my allergy except I tried to ignore it and ended up very nearly dead. It's just common sense to go the the emergency department in an emergency. And of course I hate 111. It's just another way to deprive people of the treatment they have a right to and pay for.
@Cavalierqueen they don't have "proper doctors" in OOH? 🤔
They are only GPS aren't they? So not really equipped for an emergency.

@Cavalierqueen GPs have far, far less training than A&E doctors.

@Cavalierqueen sorry I misread your comment.

111 can send her an ambulance if the treatment required is as urgent as some of you deem. They can organise a GP OOH appointment, nurse appointment, walk in clinic, etc if it's not.

111 have a number of qualified practitioners in their offices at all times. The service isn't just the triage system - which is what i am assuming some posters have issues with?

A gp can do nothing if the op needs an epi pen. They'll just call an ambulance. I know , I've been there in the throws of an allergic reaction and the gp looking at me saying there's nothing they can do. An allergic reaction where the mucus membranes are affected is a medical emergency. Would you reccomend an ooh gp for someone who had been stabbed or who was unconscious. There are certain issues where time is of the essence and this is usually one of them.

Exactly and they spend their entire job depriving people on the basis of cost. Waste of time I am so glad we don't have them here. If I have a sore throat I see an ENT directly. It's a stupid system in the UK.
