When on holiday with a 9 month old, do you stay in your room from 7pm?

Baby will go to sleep at 7pm. Obviously we wouldn't leave her in the room and go off, but I was thinking to attempt putting her in pushchair asleep and going out for dinner. Is this unrealistic? (Baby is very hard to get to sleep and wakes at minor sounds). Or do we just keep her awake until late? Or do you actually just stay in your room from 7pm?

The baby sleeping in pushchair thing never worked for us, nor did keeping her up (overtired screaming baby is not a good dinner companion)

Solutions:

  • holiday somewhere well ahead of UK time (eg Greece) and keep baby/child on UK time
  • Places like Luxury Family Hotels or Caserio del Mirador in Spain where they are set up for baby listening and you are in the same building for dinner
  • Family room with a separate kids room and room service (this is expensive and a bit rubbish though)
  • Self catering, eat out at lunch and eat in at dinner

This is exactly the reason I’d never take a baby in a hotel, cottages are the way to go!

Yes. & we now have a 9mo and a 2.5yo, so this year one of us stayed with the baby in the caravan and the other took the toddler out until about 9pm as he can handle being up late (unlike the baby).
