At what age would you tell your child they have an inheritance

It depends, my eldest, she would have stayed on course and studied hard towards a goal, but my son, I think he would say, grand, I'll play fortnite for the rest of my life (or whatever he's playing now, lost track)

Mine have an inheritance. I’ve told them it’s for a house deposit. Th younger ones have no idea how much it is. Obviously my 18 year old could have access to it but I’ve been very clear with him that I don’t think that’s a good idea and that I think it would be extremely unwise to touch it until he needs it and it will be far better to sit on it and let it grow. It’s invested and it makes no sense at all to touch it
