If your period was slightly haywire after vaccination did you report it?

Handsnotwands · 09/07/2021 16:36

Mines just turned up 10 days early

The first one I had after the vacc was very heavy and went on longer than usual

Nothing dramatic but a distinct change in my normal cycle

Is this something that would typically be reported via the yellow card system?

I did. Mine was a week early, it was quite upsetting to find it had messed with my cycle as I am ttc.

wiggleshasmylife · 09/07/2021 16:40

So did mine. Had the second astra one. Period started 12 days early. Then came on again not even 2 weeks later. Still ongoing now. 9 days of very heavy bleeding and showing no signs of stopping

wiggleshasmylife · 09/07/2021 16:41

Mine has gone bonkers! First vaccine it turned up about a week early and I had the second last Wednesday and again it is early but by loads! 10 days at least. I reported the first one but not this one. It's odd as I bled for a full proper heavy clotty period the first time, but this time it has been 3 days and it's gone again.

How does one define "slightly haywire" ?

Would odd length or lighter than usual or skipped or less painful than usual (etc), but 4m after jab, count as "slightly haywire" -- especially if woman lacks consistent history of what is normal duration/flow/pain etc.?

How long after is too long to be relevant, and how haywire?

hels71 · 09/07/2021 19:23

Yes I did.

littlejalapeno · 09/07/2021 19:29

I got an email from the Zoe app telling me that any incidences of change to periods were anecdotal, not many were being recorded, that there wasn’t really a way to record that data meaningfully and the most important thing is that everyone gets the vaccine.

So they’re basically saying they don’t care to record the data and don’t consider the data they do receive as important.

This email put me off getting the vaccine and instead I will keep on ttc. I was going to stop and take the vaccine but who knows how long it would take my period to return, and I’m the wrong side of peak fertility. Other people might make different choices. I fully intend to get the vaccine as soon as is prudent to do so.

Jenala · 09/07/2021 19:37

Yes and reported it. Its absolutely something that should be reported and the yellow card website makes it quite easy. If no one reports these things it we won't be able to see if its anecdotal like zoe etc are insisting or not.

Almost any symptom you can think of can be reported so its not too low level or something like that if you're wondering op. Some of the drop down options use the longer scientific name so might be worth googling for the actual diagnostic title of whatever your issue is

TooWicked · 09/07/2021 19:40

Yes I reported it using the yellow card system.

My periods are regular as clockwork and 4 days long.

My first period after the first vaccine arrived 6 days early and lasted 12 days.

SweatyBetty20 · 09/07/2021 19:41

I did. Had a 21 day hellishly heavy period a month after my first Moderna. Just had my second jab and bracing myself.

Pimpleonanelephant · 09/07/2021 19:41

Yes reported on yellow card and to GP.
Fully in menopause and on HRT but had two periods.
And now… HRT abruptly stopped (as in no further prescriptions) and waiting to be referred.

Ooodlesofboodles · 09/07/2021 19:43

Yes I reported it.

Ravenclawsome · 09/07/2021 19:43

I reported. Mine has been haywire since my first dose in March.

I've had everything- short cycles, long cycles, long periods, short periods.
Last period was 16 days (had second dose three days in) and currently on CD 38

jerometheturnipking · 09/07/2021 19:44

Mine was 11 days late and very clotty - this isn't my normal so I reported it on yellow card.

DuckWithOneWing · 09/07/2021 19:44

Yes, I reported it. My periods are usually regular but after both jabs my period didn't arrive. It was really easy to report it.

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 09/07/2021 19:46

I did. 9 days early and I’ve been tracking them for years and they are usually like clockwork. Next one was back to normal but have second jab next week so will see what happens then.

Holidayhomeone · 09/07/2021 19:47

Yes definitely report it

Ravenclawsome · 09/07/2021 19:47

As fir apps saying it's anecdotal.. well it wasn't going to affect the elderly, women in their 40s and 50s would likely put it down to peri menopause.
It's only going to become really apparent as younger age groups are vaccinated

HopingForOurRainbowBaby · 09/07/2021 19:48

First one I had a chemical Pregnancy a few weeks later. I didn't know I was Pregnant at the time, and my second one. I'm now 3 months late and definitely not Pregnant this time. Just hoping it hadn't triggered the start of the menopause off because I'm ttc my rainbow Baby. I've yellow carded it and if I don't get a period within the next couple of weeks will be asking for some tests doing

SuperJune · 09/07/2021 20:51

Yes! MHRA yellow card. I had really bad cramps and bleeding the day of, totally due to the vaccine and not my cycle. It was really painful so if I hadn't already seen people talking about it on social media I would have worried. I hope by reporting it I can add to the evidence base and then it will be noted as a side effect, like a sore arm or similar

MythicalBiologicalFennel · 09/07/2021 20:54

Yes I did. They need to know!

PandemicPalava · 09/07/2021 21:41

Just reported my second early period.

Handsnotwands · 09/07/2021 22:59

Thanks all. You’ve reassured me and I will report it. So easy to dismiss as “one of those things” though actually it’s not “a thing” that’s happened in the last 25 years 🤷🏼‍♀️ V much out of the ordinary though, so far, nothing more than a slight inconvenience and surprise

I dunno ragged i probs wouldn’t have cared or noticed if it had been lighter or shorter, or if I wasn’t regular usually

I log mine in an app cos I’m shit at noticing and I have a 2/3 day tolerance usually but my last two have been all of:
Weird timing (+- up to 10 days)
Heavier
Longer
More painful
Bloaty (I’m not usually bloated but I understood what people mean when they talk about bloating now)

Out of interest are any of you who have experienced changes to your cycle on the pill? I thought it wouldn't affect me as the pill should keep cycles regular but I've had a draw out breakthrough bleed, clots and cramping over a week early Confused
