Bathroom refurb Lusso Stone

I’m fitting a new en suite and agonising over the basin vanity. I love lusso stone products but have heard a couple of reports that the composite stone yellows over time and that the company have been entirely unhelpful. Had anyone had any experience of them good and bad?

It may be too late to save you from buying lusso, but I have to share my experience and say don't buy. The Morini bath I bought is incredibly uncomfortable. It is a design fault that it is narrower at the ends and wide in the middle. It is so tight around the shoulders. Looks great, but what's the point buying if you can't enjoy it...so in conclusion quality seems OK but not practically designed. Can't comment on the yellowness yet...

Can't comment on the Lusso stone, but having googled it, that bath is an elongated oval shape so of course it's wider in the middle than it is at the ends.

Did you not sit in the (empty) bath before buying it to check for comfort? I love my bath, would hate to hate to have one that was not nice to actually be in!

I have a Lusso vanity. The basins haven’t yellowed but delivery was very delayed, one arrived with a deep scratch and they do collect limescale more than ceramic.

On the other hand, it looks lovely and the design (deep drawers) is very practical.

I ordered a whole bathroom from Lusso stone and have been beset with problems. They kept losing our original order, so in the end it took the best part of a year! Within months the black powder coating peeled off the shower head and bathroom accessories. The replacement counter top arrived warped, (the second warped one). The bathroom looks lovely, but the bath is very uncomfortable. You can't lie back in it (despite what they told us), it takes a lot of water to fill and the water turns cold very easily due to the composite stone. The basins yellow/stain very easily and develop black mold stains. You have to essentially sandpaper them down(weekly) to remove marks. I do have a very good mold remover spray which removes most of the marks. I do find that the material attracts a lot of mold, especially under the plug. Our composite plug also broke/smashed. Overall our bathroom looks lovely (when clean), but it's neither comfortable or practical. I will say that the bathroom cabinet that sits under the sink is well designed and practical though so keeps the bathroom largely clutter free.

Was about to order whole new bathroom from lusso stone. Argh.

Any recommend anything similar but actually decent?

minipie · 04/11/2021 17:36

Alternatives - for baths, we have a stone resin bath from Clearwater (Sontuoso style). We were able to see their baths in showrooms and ours is very comfy! It’s a shiny finish not matt but that makes it a lot easier to clean and less porous for stains mould etc.

Ps avoid any bath shape where the part against your back is vertical or ends in a vertical section - just not comfy! You want something that angles backwards the whole way.

If you like the Lusso brassware I would suggest Crosswater, Arteform or Justtaps they are british and good quality

For vanity units look at Aspen, Parkey Howley or Harvey George. Altho not if you want super minimalist, then you probably need european brands like porcelanosa and keuco.

A bit late now perhaps but I agree with almost everything minipie said. The problem with stone resin/composite stone products, is that quality varies hugely and anyone can sell any old material without having to prove what's in it. Most online are made in China and have problems like low quality resin binder or skipping the curing stage, resulting in a more brittle bath. All of Lusso's composite stone products come from Asia so maybe that explains the yellowing and mold that some people experience.

I'd suggest you stick with Corian, the original stone resin if you can, as they've had to prove the composition and quality of their material over 50 years. Porcelanosa make a copycat version called Krion which is exactly the same high quality. Crosswater is a good brand, as are Riluxa and Keuco, mentioned above.

Hope that helps someone!

Got several Lusso Stone resin based products in matt white finish (bath, and two basins)

There are cheaper companies than Lusso but the customer service was quite good.

Yes it does take more effort to clean. Really bad stains can be lightly sanded off and 4 years later products are still very white. They look expensive and have made our bathrooms look great.

They are a bit more fragile than porcelain products though.

dear all, i was about to order a vanity unit, and bit scared by the reviews of Lusso. Is this problem of turning yellow concerning also the cabinets under sink and the countertop? or only the baths/sinks? thanks . quite unsure now..

An issue I encountered with Lusso Stone was that the stock photos on their website are not reflective of the actual delivered product. This was the case when I purchased a marble basin: https://www.lussostone.com/products/italia-calacatta-viola-marble-countertop-basin-400mm. I even ordered a sample which was misleadingly better than the delivered basin. I have attached photos of the actual sink compared to the sample and the website image. As you can see, the website image and sample are mostly purple but the actual basin is essentially white. When I brought this up with customer service, they informed me that it was an issue with my expectations and I had to bear the return cost (which was hefty!). I strongly regret using them for my bathroom renovation.
