Someone was very kind to me today.

My DDad is in hospital, he has been diagnosed with cancer.
He has an old flip phone with the smallest buttons in the world and has been struggling to use it.
I went to Tesco today, because he has a Tesco PAYG sim in it and we only put £30 on it yesterday. I asked the man if he had a very basic smart phone, it is literally just for calls, but I wanted a screen rather than the old button phone.
After chatting for a minute or 2 I realised he hadn't heard me say I was looking for a sim free phone.
I briefly explained why I wanted one and he said hold on and went onto the store.
He brought out a phone that had sat on the shelf for a few years, they aren't sold any more but he never threw it out/gave it back.
Because it 'didnt exsist' on anything anywhere he gave it to me for free and wished my Dad well.
I was really touched by the gesture.

Oh, Op. Lovely to hear a nice story. All the best for your dad.

That’s a heartwarming story OP. If you have the time you should contact Tesco to let them know how kind he has been.

That’s was a lovely thing to do, people are generally kind, so sorry to hear your dad is poorly OP, Flowers for you.

A few years back my lovely friend lost her child, I brought some items to try to bring her some comfort and help her to sleep. I couldn’t arrange them, I had an idea to go into my local florist to pay for them to display them nicely, with tissue paper & cellophane, when I trying to explain what I wanted, I got really upset. They were so lovely and did it beautifully and wouldn’t charge me anything, as much as I insisted. I dropped some chocolates in a few days later, I have never forgotten their kindness.

Ah that was a sweet thing to do.

The world is full of kind people and I am so pleased that you came across one today.

My lovely story is in the local Lidl. I had a trolley piled high, two small
Children and a baby who was screaming and could not be consoled, even in the sling.

Two people came, put my shopping through the cashier and packed it, so all I had to do was enter the PIN code for my cash card.

I never ever forgot that, and always say hi to them on the rare occasion that I see them about.

I hope that your DDad can be as pain free and as peaceful as possible. ThanksThanks

I had a specific dress I wanted to wear to my mums funeral but it had a low back and I needed one of bra extenders that pull the bra down low at the back. I went into m&s the day before and the last one was in a multipack which had bits missing so the woman wouldn't sell it to me. When I explained she gave it to me for free.

I cried.

It would be nice to do this (but only if you have the capacity OP as you're probably all over the place now!) but I wouldn't mention him giving it to you for free just in case he gets in trouble from some official corporate boss type!

Sorry to hear about your dad OP xx

Cocolapew · 08/07/2021 20:52

I thought about getting in touch with Tesco to say he went up and beyond without exactly saying what he did.
Thank you all for the good wishes ❤️
