Driving theory test?

Hi. DS has his driving theory test in about 4 weeks. He's had a few lessons, but hasn't picked up a book yet. He does have the 3 (!) books recommended by the DVLA and I will get him the app too. I'm wondering if 4 weeks is long enough to prepare or whether to put the date back? (He's been busy with exams etc at school, but then that is why we arranged the test for the school holidays).

Get him doing a bit on the app every day, I wouldn’t cancel. There are no theory tests available in our area for 3 months now!

Plenty long enough if he bothers to go through stuff.
DD1 came unstuck on her theory stuff first time around because she was getting 'most' questions right on the app, but she never bothered to go through the book. She couldn't then do the questions that hadn't come up in her driving practice (eg towing, motorways etc).
When DH sat with her and went through every single question of the 900(?) she then passed happily second time around.
Has he practiced the hazard perception test? There is an art to it.

@TeenMinusTests "When DH sat with her and went through every single question of the 900(?) she then passed happily second time around."

Interesting. Where are they listed?

Fully There is a book you can get containing every single question. DH sat with DD every evening for 10 or so days going through a section at a time. 90% of the answers were obvious from general driving. It was the other 10% where he had to discuss with her why the answer was what it was.

www.amazon.co.uk/official-DVSA-theory-test-drivers/dp/0115534652?tag=mumsnetforu03-21 It is probably one of the books he already has. Smile

Thanks @TeenMinusTests. He doesn't have that one, but I'll get it. I just bought him the three recommended on the DVLA website for learning to drive - the number of books seem to have greatly increased since I was 17!

Ah, now I see those questions are all in the official £4.99 test kit app too. I was planning to buy that, so it should do the job (and he might be more likely to use it than another book!)

Def get the app!!!!

My son is dyslexic and a lazy 17 year old, and he managed to pass first time!

He's did the tests every day until the was getting 100% every time.

The questions are worded different in the real test, but I can not recommend the app enough.

Was about a fiver.

He's got his actually test in 3 weeks! No driving instructor! Nightmare
