Things have been a bit shit lately for parents, with bubbles popping etc no?

So I thought it would be nice to share our good news, little or big things you’ve managed that might not seem like a bit deal to other people but counts as progress to you.

I’ll start…today I taught my DS, who’s just 3, to wipe his own bum! He’s thrilled, I’m thrilled. Best thing that’s happened this year, practically.

And I’ve got both my DC off dummies in the past few weeks. Long overdue some might say, but it was hard for one of them for various reasons, so it’s a massive win.

Tell me yours!

Clever but lazy DS got 51/58 in his science test!

Took the kids out shopping last night and they actually accepted 'no' as an answer! No tears! No screaming 😱

On Monday my severely autistic 16 year old son said "I love you mum " and gave me a big hug totally unprompted 🥰
I'm still smiling now and it makes all the hard work and lack of sleep so worth it x

My 2 year old has masterd potty training in less than a week, no accidents & even better he is dry at night, wakes up when he needs a wee but most nights sleeps 10ish hours without one.

One son has been accepted into uni and got himself a job to pay his own way through it (he’ll be the first into uni since my grandad)
Another son has just been accepted onto the first rung of his dream career
I’m proud of them all but deep down I couldn’t be prouder of these two

My family accepts me for who I am and let me nap when I need to. Win.

Finally found a way to get DD age 4 to scrub her teeth enough when brushing them (completely by accident I may add)…. If she wears bracelets she has to brush vigorously enough for them to jingle. She bloody loves it and those teeth are sparkly white!

She has also reached the stage where she is (pretty much) polite by default. Will say please and thank you without being promoted and say “I would like a….” Rather than “I want…” seems a tiny win but feels pretty huge!!!!

Also whoever said manners cost nothing…. Hmm not sure about that. It has cost me quite a lot of time and patience correcting dd over the past few years!

recently it's been really shit
I'm stressed about things and she's home and her bubble's popped and I'm working from home with her here
But she notices when I'm upset or stressed she says are you ok and she gives me a cuddle and she strokes my hand like I do to her
And in that moment I think she's so caring. I think I must be doing something right and she really loves me

These stories are all making me tear up!

You’re all such brilliant Mums. Hats off particularly to people like @MrsTerryPratchett and @santabetterwashhishands who are working so hard with DC with SEN.

@funnyoldonion ‘I’m just minding my own business’ has really made me laugh!
