I'm having a get together in the garden in a few weeks and one of the guests has coeliacs so I don't want to run the risk of cross contamination and make him ill. Normally I would tons of breads and pasta salads out but I need some ideas of what to serve for a lovely, gluten free buffet please.

Gf pasta is perfectly acceptable for everyone

I'm coeliac and only consider gluten free pasta tolerable, I wouldn't expect to force it on other people, especially not cold. There are plenty of alternatives, e.g. rice salad, quinoa etc which are far preferable.

Second this, just about the only gluten free bread I'm prepared to eat in its untoasted form. I've been enjoying crisp sandwiches more than is healthy since these came out. They do some brioche ones as well which are good for burger buns

I don't think all kettle crisps are suitable for coeliacs. We have some salt and vinegar ones that had barley vinegar in that were not safe for coeliacs at all.
OK, I take your point. But a lot of Kettle crisps are certified, unlike Walkers who make no effort at all.
At least it is fairly easy these days to spot allergens because they are bolded on the ingredients list. It's amazing how many products (sauces, pickles, etc) fall down on malt vinegar. Why can't they use distilled vinegar instead?

Gf pitta bread toasts - cut a pitta bread in half (so end up with 2 flat bits). Brush with olive oil. Sprinkle with fennel seeds and rock salt. Cut the pitta bread into small triangles. Put on a baking tray and put in oven at 180 for about 10mins. Let them cool. Put into an airtight container (think they would keep for a couple of days). Then have on own or with hummus, sour cream and chive dip, etc. Bit of a faff, and can be a bit salty, but taste lovely! And gf pasta salad, tortilla chips, gf mini sausages, cheese and pineapple hedgehog Smile

I agree, why do they need to use barley malt vinegar when plenty other alternatives. We even had some sea salt and cider vinegar crisps from a fancy range that had the acceptable cider vinegar, plus the malt vinegar as well. Very frustrating. Still we now eat fewer crisps so it's not all bad...

The veritable unicorn of GF bread - I have not found any in stock ever yet. I think the GF people round my way have filled their doom freezers to the top with them.

Very good suggestions on here and kind of you to go think about a gf diet it’s not a choice so it’s great you are planning.
Please don’t make then a fruit salad or brownie for their only dessert M and S do gf nice cakes could have with ice cream, it’s just v v boring and disappointing when that’s your only option Also most panna cotta is gf which would be lovely for them! Just check labels even if it says gf but contains oats even gf oats that’s a big no no for many coeliacs.

Warburtons are doing online orders for GF products, really handy if you have freezer space to stock up.

@ViperAtTheGatesOfDawn I did an order with them online today to try the new tiffin type squares and to stock my freezer up

I wish I had a bigger freezer Grin, I'd love a big chest freezer. Didn't mean to sound resentful or judgy, you should have seen my gf flour and pasta doom pile...

Noodle salad but use GF spaghetti not rice noodles. It's the best way to replicate the muggle version. But watch out for gluten in sauces, especially soy sauce. Morrison's cheese abs tomato pizza is only 80p and quite good. You can add toppings too. The big thing is to make your guest comfortable that there will be no bread crumb contamination or double dipping (you will need new butter/marg, jam, pickle etc if you've previously stuck a knife in that's been in contact with gluten bread). It's so good that you're considering it because I am becoming used to meals out being a big disappointment.
