A colleague is trying to lose weight and says she is doing this after a meal and and it totally stops the need for something swear.

Part of me thinks it's genius but I do wonder if it's the first step towards some form of eating disorder.

Has/does anyone do this?

I remember that episode of Sex and the City when Carrie met her old friend in LA, he was chewing his food and spitting it into a napkin.

Genius really and won't rot your teeth like bulimia (joking obviously)

So what do you do with the food, spit it into your napkin? Yuk! It sounds disgusting.

susiella · 05/07/2021 19:46

I read Diana Ross and her children did this when their chef made cakes and pastries

Surely just chewing would make you even hungrier?

Like when you chew gum it's makes you hungry. Well it does me anyway 🐷.

Can't be great for your digestion/stomach. The acid is produce in reaction to you chewing.

Someone l know well does this. It's disordered eating.

The bags of spat out food are also unpleasant.

Why not just eat (and swallow) and enjoy a smaller portion?

SmidgenofaPigeon · 05/07/2021 19:56

Er, I used to do this when I was anorexic if I really really couldn’t resist the taste of something I loved.

I used to think it was genius. I was very ill.

I don't think it's the first step, but it's definitely disordered.
