Toy de-clutter - get rid or store?

Ok. It's time for another toy declutter!!

DS4 has a fair amount of toys, I have done regular de clutters. We have baby number 2 due soon, so I would love to get the house in order ready for his arrival.

We have recently moved all of the toy storage in to DS bedroom, from the lounge. He has a few downstairs, and rarely plays with the ones upstairs, so he doesn't miss them. I am sure he would be fine if we got rid of the majority.

But my question .... should I save them for the next baby?! Will he decide in 2 years he wants the Thomas the tank toys and I will end up re buying them?!

I've got a terrible habit of buying the whole collection of each of my DS latest craze, how can I get out of this and just keep a nice, minimal collection of toys?!?!

deffo save for baby 2.

I dunno what to suggest about spending habits. There are therapies for that or just add it all up & horrify yourself.

Keep for baby number 2, poor DS2 has hardly been bought any toys of his own as he has all DS1s old ones.

Depends what they are.

Faddy stuff doesn't make as much sense to store as a wooden train track for example.

Id be picky over tv related stuff, and keeping generic stuff. Thomas may be an exception though, since its been around for 30+ years.

If you have space to store I'd tend towards keeping some. Maybe a sort out to take out anything broken or that's not held his interest for long.

We've found rotating toys worked well, bringing out a box that hadn't been seen for a few weeks was great on a wet weekend or something when everyone was feeling housebound.

That said, I do need to sort out the loft as by this logic I chuck everything up there, either for a rainy day or till I know the kids won't miss it, a few years of this and we're in need of thinning out the stored stuff.
