How to get rid of the brain fog?

Bellasblankexpression · 03/07/2021 19:48

I constantly feel tired at the moment, properly lethargic, and brain foggy like I have no motivation to do anything and just kind of float through the day.
I’ve been trying to exercise regularly and know my diet is rubbish at the moment but I’m really trying with it now. Is there anything else you find that helps?

I don’t think I’m unwell, I think it’s more of a mental tiredness if that makes sense although I was wondering if vitamins or something would help

Fibre, veg, fruit, water, probiotics.

@Bellasblankexpression

I also think I might have a dust allergy as my house is SO dusty (I don’t know why, it’s a losing battle, there’s big bits of grey fluff everywhere always) and I constantly wake up in the early hours with a blocked up nose, I’ve posted about it before. People suggested antihistamine but it didn’t make any difference and I’ve switched pillows and still no difference :(
Do you have a fabric headboard?
Bellasblankexpression · 03/07/2021 22:01

@Suzi888 no we don’t currently have a headboard! I think I might pull the bed out tomorrow and try and really clean under it and down the back

I feel your pain, I get terrible allergies too.Sad Our bedroom gets unbelievably dusty, even if I wipe it daily.

WeAreTheHeroes · 03/07/2021 22:12

Damp dusting actually picks up dust rather than just moving it around.

Comedycook · 03/07/2021 22:13

Do you have a carbon monoxide detector? Please check and if not, get one.

Otherwise, ask your gp for a blood test. I was like you and I had low b12

Babymamamama · 03/07/2021 22:14

I got rid of my brain fog with HRT.

Bellasblankexpression · 03/07/2021 22:16

@Comedycook I have one downstairs but the chimney breast runs up through our bedroom so I will get one to go in our room too. Nobody else seems affected though

I felt similarly to you earlier this year: I was absolutely exhausted. I had had a tiring pandemic so it wasn't really a surprise but it was just bone tiredness, like my brain could never wake up. I had a B12 deficiency - only minor but 3 months of boots B vitamin mixture has sorted me out.

paulhollywoodshairgel · 03/07/2021 23:03

I felt like that. Turns out I had a vitamin D deficiency and a B12 deficiency. Both these can cause depression like symptoms. You absolutely can request a blood test xx

Boopeedoop · 03/07/2021 23:06

B12 injection. Transformed my life.
You can get it done at pharmacies, dentists and beauticians, not just gp.

Bellasblankexpression · 03/07/2021 23:38

But I’m presuming you have to get the blood test through the GP first? I’ve never requested a blood test or anything so wasn’t sure if you just phoned up and asked (explaining symptoms obviously)

Thanks for advice it sounds like it’s a common thing? I’m sleeping in a different room tonight to see if it makes any difference to the blocked up nose - if it does at least I’ll know it’s something in that room!

I would take a look at your diet, an overload of dairy can cause this brain fog feeling. I love cheese and have periods of eating lots everyday, when I cut back I really do notice a difference.

Bellasblankexpression · 04/07/2021 07:24

So I didn’t wake up in the night with a blocked up nose in the other room and aside from the fact that one is obviously dustier than the other I can’t work out the difference!

I think they must be as dusty as each other as the whole house is dusty, it’s just
More noticeable in the main bedroom because of the flooring.

I did notice the other room was cooler so maybe that has something to do with it?

I’m going to try and overhaul my diet this week. Going to start another thread for meal and snack idea help as I’m stuck for ideas and definitely need to prep or I don’t stick to anything

@Boopeedoop can you ask for one over the counter or do you need a prescription?

How often do you need them?

MistySkiesAfterRain · 05/07/2021 21:33

For dust, air purifiers really help.

Elisemp93 · 26/02/2023 21:08

Hi, did you get sorted with this? And what was the outcome? Thanks! Xxx
