Sudden onset of loud snoring in our 3 year old

Has this happened to any other DC? DD didn't snore until around February this year. Then she started and we assumed it was a cold (and I think she did get several at around that time once at preschool). It did seem to get a little better around March, then worse, bit better start of April then worse again and it's stayed loud and constant every night. She does wake quite a bit but she did before as well, when she was breathing normally at night

I've always room or bed shared with her so can tell the difference. Spoken to GP and waiting for investigation but wanted to know if the sudden onset and continued problem has happened to anyone else's DC as I'm a bit worried? She doesn't seem too bothered by it but I'm concerned by how quickly it has come on - do adenoids and tonsils enlarge over time or would she have always had large ones if this was the cause? Could adenoids perhaps be chronically inflamed after infections? I suppose I worry about a growth blocking the airway or even a foreign body or something - it's just so strange

This happened with DC. The ENT thinks a virus enlarged his adenoids and tonsils and they've just kind of .. stayed like that? No real concerns. They advise you stand for 15 minutes one night at least half an hour after she's gone to sleep and listen to her breathing and see if you notice any apnea. I was told regular snoring isn't a cause for concern and given some nasal sprays for the inflammation (which doesn't seem to do much 2 months on) but he didn't have apnea so wasn't much of a concern. Sounds like it could resolve itself with time.

That's good to know. She's been through surgery for something else so I really hope she won't need it operated on although of course we would if that was needed

I don't think she has sleep apnea but that is a good tip, thank you. Hopefully it will go away on its own perhaps when she is older

It's reassuring to know that they might have just become and stayed enlarged - I'm sure a virus or several triggered it, she was hit quite hard with bugs when mixing after a year or so of being mostly apart from other kids
