Is this a wasp sting?

Apologies for the randomness of this but I'm after some advice.

Is this a wasp sting? DP thinks it happened on Wednesday afternoon (though he didn't feel anything). Since then it's been itchy and slowly getting darker. It's a little 'tight' today but hasn't grown in size and there's no visible tracking. He was out at country gardens/NT attraction.

It seems to match the first photo on the NHS website?
www.nhs.uk/conditions/insect-bites-and-stings/symptoms/

Just after some opinions before deciding what to do next.

He feels ok in himself.

If you don't like bugs do not scroll down that page!

p.s. sorry for the crappy quality of the photos!

Yes looks like a wasp sting.

Whack a bit of hydrocortisone cream (insect bite cream, can get otc at the chemist) and take an antihistamine and it'll be nearly gone by the end of the day

I've never had a wasp sting look like that. Mind you I've never been stung and not noticed it happen - they hurt like hell!!

Definitely looks like some sort of infection to me. Could be a splinter in there or something similar.

I'm not sure how likely it would be to get a wasp sting on your finger without noticing - they're pretty painful!

@spaceghett0 I'm not sure either tbh.

Thanks for replies so far!

Wasp or bee stings are painful, could it be a spider bite?
