The last month I have embarked on healthy eating. I've been feeling increasingly tired and the last couple of days had to have midday naps.

I have been really baffled why as I am eating well, its been so bizarre.

I've been trying to work it out and it started with feeling more relaxed then got stronger. I know lettuce has magnesium which makes you calm and I'd been having a full plate of salad at lunch.

On a whim I googled does lettuce make you tired. Erm yes, there are studies that say it has opiod effects apparently!!

What was especially interesting vindicating is that I have been eating copious amounts of Romaine lettuce, i.e. a whole head for lunch, as it's not that expensive and nice and crunchy.

I found this research article saying its actually the worst culprit for the highest levels of sleep inducing effects! I'm really surprised, but relieved as I thought I was ill. I've decided to have salad for dinner tomorrow in the hope I sleep amazingly 😂

It’s why Peter Rabbit always falls asleep in the lettuce patch.
There are other indicators with lettuce cravings too, it can apparently be an early warning for breast cancer!

I loved how you're getting in to this!

You might also be tired because your body is adjusting to a lower calorie intake, more effort processing healthier, fibre dense food, far less sugar and so on, that's quite normal too.

A great multivitamin and multimineral would be good too.

This is the sort of thing that used to be very well known a generation or two ago, but has largely dropped out (possibly a result of wider changes in diet, loss of seasonality etc)

Well done on your changed diet!

(But do remember that persistent tiredness/fatigue, especially if accompanied by other symptoms, is something a GP should review)

The internet is a wonderful thing at times Grin. You're right. I'll look at the NHS diet website again now I'm being more physically active.
