There was a thread that, as always with local dialects and regional words, got heated. The general consensus was that and injection is generally called a jab in England and a jag in Scotland.

The level of shock on that thread amused me somewhat.

King -> lion

VerticalHorizon · 04/07/2021 12:41

Jab (prod, or injection) - Jag (Scottish word for Jab), but Jag is a common abbreviation for Jaguar (the famous car brand).

I was mocking the difference between Scotland and England explaining 'car' to the Scottish in fun.

Lion -> Pride

Just to add to the confusion in Scotland a Jaguar car is also a jag. Grin

Thank you, @Breathmiller and @VerticalHorizon...I loved your explanations....very amusing as my mum has 2 very elderly model jags that she is very attached to.... she's 90 years old and still drives..she reminds me of the Queen when she goes out for a spin...can barely see over the steering wheel WinkConfused

Hope your honey's arm feels better soon @BreathmillerFlowers

VerticalHorizon · 04/07/2021 12:59

Breathmiller's DH's jab is nothing to do with covid. It's the prod she gives him when it's his turn to put the kettle on!

A jab is what I give him with my pointiest finger when he wakes me up with his snoring

That's so sweet. I will think of your wee mum whenever I see a jag now. (The car not the injection)
