I clean my skirting boards regularly- did them in 2020 - First time in 15 years - thats me done till 2035!

Always tidying and keeping track of what needs to be done when.

crayray · 02/07/2021 09:42

Thanks to this thread I've just cleaned the washing machine filter. I'll tend to the skirting boards later. Please keep them coming.

Mymapuddlington · 02/07/2021 11:15

I think cleaning things like the washing machine, dishwasher and sterilisers should clean themselves.

I never realised how much random dirt appears everywhere, I don’t remember seeing dirty fingerprints on doors or random marks on the wall as kid and an adult in other peoples homes

In a way I don't actually mind cooking dinner
It's the deciding what to have
Have we got the ingredients?
What about stuff for TOMORROWS lunch, WTAF??

Also wanting (even needing) something (nice jumper, new trainers, new pants). Not buying them coz the kids need endless ££££

StayAGhost · 02/07/2021 14:18

I have never cleaned skirting boards, or emptied washer filter tho...

romdowa · 02/07/2021 14:20

Expecting a baby has really shown me that I am not a grown up 🤣🤣🤣 you've to organise so much and learn so much and make all these decisions that affect another person! 9 months just isn't long enough!

Champagneforeveryone · 02/07/2021 14:44

Did you know you had to wash the filters on the Hoover?

Me neither Hmm

Loyaultemelie · 02/07/2021 14:50

Eh washing machines have filters? I knew this about tumbledryers but not washing machines Blush

LadyJaye · 02/07/2021 15:37

I see your washing machine / hoover filters and raise you cooker hoods.

Christ. What a horrible job. I'll pull the hair out of drains (I am the person with long hair in my house, it's my job) before I clean the filters off the cooker hood.

EvilPea · 02/07/2021 15:45

Being the one who has to clear up a smashed glass.

OoglyMoogly · 02/07/2021 16:14

Being the one that removes spiders Hmm

Dispose of a dead pigeon at 7am, with a mild hangover Envy

It's the realisation that if you don't do it, no one else will. And no one will remind you to do said thing - I think that's what is so crushingly grown up about it.

Champagneforeveryone · 03/07/2021 13:00

Eww doasyouyouwouldbemumby, that's just reminded me... our yard drain was blocked yesterday and after a little poking about I fished a dead and bloated mouse out of it Envy

That's not a exhaustive list, op. Those things wouldn't even make it onto my list.

I think cleaning things like the washing machine, dishwasher and sterilisers should clean themselves.

I lived with a boyfriend in my 20s who was generally pretty domesticated but was incredulous when I pointed out that his deep clean of the kitchen hadn't included cleaning the sink or the bin - he felt that one was self-cleaning (he obviously hadn't actually looked at it) and that the other 'is a place for dirt' and so I was being ridiculous!
