I literally can't think of a single thing to do for my birthday

Anyone got any ideas? It's my birthday a week on Sunday, I'd like to do something cool with my two school aged kids. Looks like the weather will be rainy, and one of the kids has broken her arm so we can't do anything sporty or go to a swimming pool. My brain's gone completely blank. What can I do?

Treasure hunt or scavenger hunt round the woods followed by cream tea and hot chocolate.

Breakfast out, then the cinema.

Depends really who the day out is for, you or the kids?

How about going to the cinema to watch a Sunday matinee film...then have your Sunday lunch out as a family ..

Any good museums round your way? I'm in London so a rainy day celebration for me, with kids, would probably be the Science Museum, if you have something similar. Or one of those living history places (can't think of any examples but hope you know what I mean); I'd think most of them have a mix of indoor and outdoor stuff to do.

I have just booked to go to the natural history museum with mine on my birthday, then out for a nice dinner.

Me, but needs to be something they'll enjoy because otherwise it'll be crap. We sort of mined out all the decent museums when they were a bit younger, then corona hit, and I don't want to go to the cinema because they get more than enough screen time as it is...

Sorry, I'm being really negative, I know. I'm feeling really burned out with the corona stuff (we're not in the UK and we're unlocking a bit, but it's taking time for everything to get back up to speed and I'm fed up having to check everything and trying to book stuff and then realising you need a test etc). I am grateful for the ideas!

Its far too soon to predict the weather that far ahead! Its my birthday the day before, and I have outdoor things planned. We are going to a National Trust place, then lunch in a pretty Cotswold village.

If they might be negative and you are feeling burned out is it possible to gift yourself a day alone? Book in a nail appointment, a nice lunch with a book and a bottle of wine, see a film you would want to see sans kids then come home chilled out and indulged.

Safari park, boat trip

@CormoranStrike (great name BTW!)

I'd like that, but not on my actual birthday day, as the kids still sort of have that expectation that your birthday is presents and a cake with your family, and I think they would be a bit sad to know I wanted to spend it alone. I don't know what I would do here that I would really like anyway TBH. We live abroad and I'm sick of the sight of the place.

Order in afternoon tea

FindingMeno · 30/06/2021 18:16

Party games at home if younger.
Some sort of a themed day if older.

Definitely plan some kind of treat for you in the future.

Meantime, cinema, burgers etc with kids then get them to bake you a cake

Afternoon tea somewhere posh? Get your gladrags on, take a taxi so you can have a glass of fizz…..
