Sink material for hard water area, ceramic? Stainless steel /composite..

What is the easiest material to clean with hard water for a non cleaning, non house proud family Grin

The bathroom sink seems OK and it's ceramic, I've cleaned it maybe once a month for limescale and it seems OK but there is still a build up I can't shift.

I have no idea what our down stairs sink is it's not stainless steel and again has a build up of lime scale that I've never been able to shift even with scrapping at it with a knife.

So for a new sink... What about a composite sink??
Or ridiculous? Ceramic?

Ceramic. I've a Ceramic kitchen sink as was so fed up with limescale destroying metal ones.

For stainless steel one must use a descaler that is marked suitable for stainless steel <a class="break-all" href="https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/278067644?selectedUrl=digitalcontent.api.tesco.com/v2/media/ghs/21e35e0a-858f-4322-90bd-fd899fcfa8d9/snapshotimagehandler_1280353246.jpeg?h=540&w=540&preservedReferrer=duckduckgo.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">- like this one.
Use the strongest ones on the ceramic items.

Ceramic. But remember the taps won't be, and the plug hole. So still need to be careful what you use to get rid of the scale.

Lemonmelonsun · 27/06/2021 22:20

I've been lusting after the goldy bronze taps...

Again maybe silly choice with lime scale 😱

Surley metal would be best though even if scratched

Stainless steel is the pits, went out with the arc.
We just had a composite sink, really like it

Get a water softener installed

nicknamehelp · 28/06/2021 16:16

Get a water softener as brilliant. But in meantime white vinegar left to soak on limescale removes it.

Ozanj · 28/06/2021 16:20

Limescale removal products are acidic so, long term, will wreck any sink including ceramic. The best thing to do is PREVENT limescale from forming in the first place by drying your taps, sink and surfaces after every single use & not letting water pool anywhere.

Lemonmelonsun · 29/06/2021 19:32

Ozanji we can try but we are all quite messy!

I wonder if water softer work and how much fuss and problem to actually install?

Not a black composite!
I have to deep clean and oil it every week to make it look good and within 2 days the white water marks start.

I've got 3 other family members who splash water around and don't wipe it off, which doesn't help.

I'd choose ceramic if I could repick.
