What do you DO on your days off if you want to go out to DO something?

I'm a single mom, and every other weekend Ex has the kids.. so it leaves me 2 days to do what i want pretty much.

Some i spend with friends, some i spend pottering with mom, some i spend doing the couch potato/home body thing.

But after a year of being stuck at home, i dont WANT to be stuck at home.. i'm bored.

So.. mom and i thought we'd try and spend a bit more time together and find stuff to DO.. but actually, we have no clue WHAT to do with ourselves. (or myself tbf when she's not with me)

I have limited mobility, so heavy walking is out, i can potter, and if i have places to stop/rest, i can get a fair distance.

So basically i'm after inspiration, what do you do/where do you go?

Don't worry about specifics, i'd rather not reveal my location for EXACT ideas, just.. general things i can look for around and about.

Some sort of class? Like a pottery class or painting/flower arranging/gardening/cooking/DIY/photography etc. Quite often they have one-off weekend classes (so you don't have to go every week).

National trust?

I had a week off work last week and spent it with my parents. We went for pub lunches, to a garden centre, a deli, home bargains, a cafe, walked round a cemetery, went to a little farm, visited a lavender field, did pyo strawberries.

I normally have the baby with me these days so a bit different (not always) but these are things I used to like to do with my mum or now with mother in law, or sometimes on my own:

Mooch round shops with a stop for lunch - either our local market town so we could poke about the market too, or to a nice more historic town about half an hour drive/ hours train ride away where we could also walk by the river or look in some old buildings

National Trust/ English Heritage type places -.sometimes to tour the house other times just in the gardens and coffee shop

Cinema

Theatre if we could get reasonable matinee tickets

Garden centres

Museums and art galleries

Garden visiting. The NGS Yellow Book lists private gardens open in your area and the dates. They often have tea and homemade cake available. It’s very pleasant to potter round someone else’s garden and enjoy a slice of lemon drizzle.
