An exciting thread about ventolin inhalers! Does your pharmacist prescribe salbutamol turbo inhaler?

Dh struggles to get on with salbutamol so we’ve been using a chain pharmacist that dispenses ventolin. I want to change pharmacists.

I can choose Tesco’s or boots, do you use them for ventolin?.

Tesco pharmacy should always use ventolin evohaler for a generic salbutamol script (check your bag before leaving the pharmacy, if they've got salamol/airomir in the drawer they might try and use it up on someone new, but will swap it for ventolin if asked)

@HmmmmmmInteresting

Asthma guidelines state that inhalers should be prescribed by brand, not generically, so it should be no problem getting your asthma nurse or GP to change it to say Ventolin.

The breath-actuated Ventolin is called Ventolin Accuhaler.

The Accuhaler is a powder-based delivery system, not an aerosol.

@sueelleker I didn't say it was an aerosol?

I absolutely hate the CFC free salbutamol inhlaers that I get given as standard now. I much prefer the Ventolin Evohaler so thanks for someone suggesting to ask for that specific one.

As an aside, I haven't had an asthma review for over 2 years now - our surgery isn't doing them because of Covid. Hmm

Agree with others.

I use a standard Ventolin inhaler as my reliever at the moment. I user to use a turbohaler and found that easier. When you are out and about getting what you need from an aerosol inhaler reliever can be difficult

I have the regular ventolin canisters that you have to push to puff. I use a spacer. I also have a nebulizer machine and the little doses for it. I use the nebulizer if things are worse.

This past spring I have found my asthma worse, it could be because of an early spring and a big dose of pollen from trees and grasses.
