Managed to get a child free weekend in Manchester for OH birthday. Any good recommendations for things to do and places to eat, We love Street food, relaxed places to eat more than fancy places. Budget not an issue ( it's a big birthday) we are staying in the Clocktower hotel :)
First weekend away no kids for aggges so looking forward to sleep, so brunch places would be great too!

If you like really good wood fired pizza, you want Rudy's or Franco Manca.

Mackie Mayors is great, just got a really good, chilled vibe. And HATCH is along the same lines, lots of different independent street food vendors and bars all in one place.

If you like burgers then Solita in the northern quarter is excellent

If you want food ideas my friend has an Instagram
www.instagram.com/transpennine_eats/

She basically eats her way around Manchester and Leeds and makes me jealous 😂

Hatch has lots of independent streetfood outlets, when I was there before covid there was a bit of music on too and had a great atmosphere!

Rates are coming down everywhere but the SE.

No they're not. Which is why travel into and out of some areas in the North West and West Yorkshire is not advised.

@fussygalore118 how incredibly selfish, so you know it’s unlikely you will get seriously unwell but you are fine with bringing a new variant home to those that may.
Why does should not mean nothing to you just because you won’t get a fine?

I see many of my favourites on here (although I prefer Sugo in Altrincham as it has a friendlier, more intimate feel so probably wouldn’t prioritise the ancoats restaurant over some of the others mentioned here myself). I would add:

Pasta Factory (freshly made pasta) and its sister pizzeria Noi Quattro. Both of these are great in general, but especially for vegetarians and vegans. Their sauces are more inventive and tasty than just adding pretend cheese, although they have started making their own vegan cheeses.

The latter is very close to the Arts and Crafts Centre, which is a must-visit if you like jewellery, ceramics, etc.

Best cocktails are at El Gato and Refuge, which are also great for a more upmarket meal. Refuge does a lovely Sunday lunch.

Cheap eats - I’d add the Arndale Market (not very pretty, but some very nice food), Siam Smiles and the strip of Vietnamese cafes on Oldham Road, Ancoats.

Cultural stuff - guided tours by Jonathan Schofield are a really good bet. If you google him, you’ll see what’s on when you’re in town.

Well I live in one of the areas where it's advised not to travel in or out. For me, that means I don't and won't leave my area or invite someone in unless it was an emergency.

Manchester Art gallery is well worth a look round. I'll second the Richmond Tea Rooms and just a few doors down is The Molly House that does good tapas. The canal basin area off the end Deansgate has a few bars and eateries worth look. John Rylands Library on Deansgate is a beautiful building. A short walk out of the centre is The Marble Arch pub on Rochdale Road, good grub and ales and an amazing interior.
