Mentioned elsewhere on here that some school children don’t know their addresses. Could your child write down/input on a computer their home address (or addresses) in full, including postcode(s) from memory, if asked?

I taught my DC as soon as they were able to talk and hold a conversation in case of emergencies. I think everyone should do the same! I can't believe a high school aged child wouldn't know...

They know my mobile number too should I add, back when I was a child it was the landline number, but we don't use it anymore!

An aside,my home phone number aged 4 was Bicnacre 319. 😂 in 1966.

Now the family phone numbers are 11 (?) digits long, times the number of people in the family.

Took brownies (age 7-10) to a fire station on a visit. The fireman asked how many knew their addresses. Surprisingly few did. He pointed out that knowing your address was essential from a safety point of view as they might be the one making an emergency call and they needed to tell the fire engine where to come.

I've also drummed our home phone number into the DC. in these days of mobiles and speed dial it seems that no one remembers phone numbers any more!

He can't do postcode but DS could recite house no and street name at about 4., bearing in mind he was non verbal until gone 3 and no one would have understood what he said at 4 but he could say it.

My 2 year old son knows my full name, his full name and our full address.

My daughter leaned her address and my phone number when she was 6 for a Beavers badge. My 5 year old knows the first line, ie 2 bridge street, Bridgetown.

I was taken aback that one of my Year 7s didn’t know her street name. She was about to text her dad til I clocked that the stickers we were using for the lateral flow tests had the postcodes on as the school thought they might not know this. I looked it up for her.

It's always surprised me that many children at work. (Paediatric nurse) do t know there address or phone number. I knew mine, and the address of the GP and both my grandparents address from about 6 years.

Around age 5 when we visited big cities or abroad they could recite where they lived
