Bees...getting them out of roof lanterns...furry disorientated little buggers.

We've just had an extension with roof lanterns put in. And there are now bees getting stuck up there constantly. We didn't get opening ones..we should have got opening ones.

How do you get them out?

get advice from bee keeper?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/06/2021 12:27

Can you wave a bunch of flowers at them to entice them down? Grin

we have a long handled spider grabber (couple of quid off amazon) its got soft filaments that hold the bee till you get it outside- with a trigger handle to open and close the filaments - still need the step ladders to reach it though- I've just ordered tension rods and a voile to drape across the opening to stop them getting up there- after three fraught summers rescuing the blighters!

I've ordered an extra long spider catcher. This is going to get tedious quite quickly isn't it.....?

How are they coming into your house? We have lots of bees in the garden but very rarely have a bee come inside - lots of flies if the windows are open, but very rarely a bee. Is there a particular window near a bee friendly bush or something you could keep closed?

The whole garden is pretty bee friendly to be honest. Buzzing with them at the moment.

We get a bee in a most days when the patio doors are open.

We have a roof lantern and get bees stuck up there all the time. In fact it seems to be constantly one in one out today. We have a little fishing net on a long pole to gently coax them out. Had a few butterflies too. We have to give it a good Hoover on the ridges after summer due to the amount of dead flies we accumulate. It is grim!
