Any ideas for little token gift for preteen children (main gift of money/token)

We are at an age where we are mostly giving money and tokens to friends and cousins. Sometime I wish I could put a little novelty /token gift in just so it isn’t so boring. Does anyone have any idea? Up to about £5 value. It is mostly boys I buy for age 9 - 12.

Rex London have some little secret agent type things like invisible pens, joke items, small classic games and puzzles so on. I sometimes get token toys like that from the pound shop - the retro bazaar things like gyroscope, tiddlywinks, balloon animal kits and so on just to add to nephews’ presents. Crystal growing sets are good too - Tiger does cheap ones for a couple of pounds.

Also those nylon pocket kites (Waitrose often stock them in the summer for £4 each and you can get them on Amazon) go down really well, my DD has a couple and they fly really easily.

A week or so ago Lidl had in their middle aisle, giant gliders for £7.99. A giant polystyrene glider you put together and throw. Honestly, get one if you can. It literally provided hours of fun recently for kids and adults alike. It's goes a long way and even does loop the loop. Great toy.

How about a gaming themed graphic T shirt? Loads online, if you get several in a bunch in advance to stock up you could get them for around a fiver inclusive delivery.

Sweets or weird fizzy drinks preferably American.

I wondered about getting chocolate that is made to look like vegetables but it’s quite pricey. I guess it’s a difficult/specialist thing to make

Magic tricks, mini science experiment kits, models to make ... I would check local charity shops too, often have sealed unwanted gifts
