MS Relapse - what should i take to hospital?

First relapse that I have noticed and I am going to the hospital but unsure what to pack. The doctor just said to pack a bag?

How long will I have to stay in?

Is there anything I should not take?

Thank you. i was diagnosed a while ago but it was an accidental finding - I wasn't actually unwell.

They said the neurologist will see me on Tuesday but theyve given some anti sickness medication and some saline thing.

will definitely ask if they are sure when I can speak to someone and will look into the medication but is there any place where it is better to do this?

I really freaked myself out when I googled after diagnosis.

It is also absolutely freezing in here!

They should make you a consultant appointment.. and they will discuss your options and which type of MS. I think the main thing is .. my consultant said to me ( diagnosed last January) that MS can be treated to be a manageable condition. Xxx

Another with RRMS - good luck & when you do start on a DMT don’t be afraid to tell your neuro if it doesn’t suit you. I’m on my .4th type now
Also make sure you get an ms nurse

Sorry you're cold Sad Hospitals always seem to be boiling or freezing!

I'm not surprised you freaked out - what a shock. It's bad enough when you know something's wrong.

mstrust.org.uk/about-ms/ms-treatments/ms-decisions is a good place to start to look into different treatments. Not all of them will be available as some are just if the first-line treatments don't work. The choice is pretty much about what suits your life and how much 'risk' you want to take. Good luck with it all.

If you are wired from the steroids ask for a sleeping pill. I always have pills at home and without knock out drops woul be cleaning at 4 am! Ear plugs and face mask so you get some sleep. Take care …

thank you everyone. I haven't actually spoken to anyone but the nurses yet, i think thats tomorrow. They said they will start steroids though and i have had some blood tests.

I actually have slept quite a lot.

and demolished some snacks so the antisickness medication is working

@Erinrose82 I had that before my consultant wanted a guinea pig for alemtuzemab. It's fab stuff. I
Miss going for more monthly infusions in a funny way. It kept me on the teams radar.

Toddlerteaplease · 22/06/2021 21:21

@monkeymobocracy mine was also an incidental finding. I did an MRI scan as part of a research study for my local university, and it came up
On that. I glad that's how I found out as it was easier to deal with when it did tear it's ugly Head.
