Can anyone with back issues tell me if they have had success with a Treadmill desk to work at?

Its for my son – he has a mild scoliosis and some other mild musculoskeletal problems consequently when he gets injured he heals very slowly. It’s been difficult during the A-levels and his osteopath warned to expect the same thing after each year of university exams. To give you context -we are talking about three months off sport and then another three months next year. The osteopath advised thinking about mitigation strategies. I know that a standing desk isn’t the answer because you can slump when standing – and many factories introduced seats in the first place because people got so many injuries from standing all day!
It seems like the answer for people with his problems is movement and so I’m thinking about a treadmill desk for while he’s working in his room at Uni. I’d really appreciate any thoughts.

Could your osteopath advise or could you get him an appointment with an occupational therapist?
I have a joint condition and try to mitigate it by having a desktop sit/stand shelf with my laptop and screen on so I move from sitting to standing during the day.
I also take breaks every 1.30hrs to stretch lying down.
It does make the working day longer but it definitely helps.
Swimming is also really good if possible as it's weight bearing or hydro therapy if it's accessible.
I couldn't manage a treadmill desk my balance is too poor, even standing I reserve for meetings where I'll have minimal typing.

I use a Hag Capisco chair which enables lots of different seating positions and was miraculous for me as a hypermobile fidget who'd be in lots of pain if I had to stay in one position.

Ooh, I will follow up on both of those suggestions!

Posture isn’t as crucial as was once believed, setting a timer to remind he to get up and stretch can be as effective. See if he can get special considerations for his exams, at uni I did them in a separate room and had extra time to allow me to get up and move during the exam. www.painscience.com/tutorials/low-back-pain.php
