COVID vaccine pregnancy second dose

I had the first dose of Pfizer vaccine not long before I fell pregnant. The second dose is due around 11 weeks pregnant (this is the maximum gap of 12 weeks). Midwife had recommended getting vaccine but waiting until after 12 week scan and this may be later than the 12 weeks since first. She said gap can be now extended to 16 weeks.

Is there anyone out there is a similar situation and what do you plan to do?

Also my employer/colleagues know when I had my first vaccine and will most likely ask about my second dose, what should I tell them? I really don’t want people to know I’m pg until I know all is ok but I’m normally very open about things and it would be strange if I told them it’s none of their business. Is there any other reasons why people may delay second dose other than pregnancy that I could use as an excuse - I suppose I could lie and say I have had it but that may come back to bite me when I actually get the vaccine (and possible putting myself more at risk from virus if people have the impression that I’m fully vaccinated)

Any advice on this matter greatly appreciated

My friend was expressly advised to get it because she was pregnant (she was later in her pregnancy at the time the vaccine because available though, 2nd/3rd trimester). Her consultant (private) actually wouldn't do her c-section unless she had been fully vaccinated.

Personally, I would get it as soon as possible as I think (for me) the risks of COVID in pregnancy outweigh the risks of vaccination. But it's also totally fine to delay your 2nd dose if you feel more comfortable. I'd just tell nosy co-workers that you've had it or alternatively that you haven't been able to get a slot so had to book it a bit later.

SmileThank you for your post-I do appreciate getting another perspective on the matter especially as the situation is so new and constantly developing!

I think I will get as I know there are higher risks in 3rd trimester if don't have it. I suppose my main concern is having in first trimester when baby is still developing that does worry me. But the fact I've had first dose and didn't really get a reaction is a good sign.
